In the last few months, the activities of people have come to a standstill. In our country, government is lifting up the restrictions of lockdown in phases to control the contraction of virus. Be it economy, agriculture, industries or start-ups, every sector has witnessed severe downfall. Today, when the whole world is struggling with this, India has managed to slow down the impact up to a certain extent. However, the people in the country are in complete lockdown. Work from Home is the new cool and shops & offices are closed. Unfortunately, the job offers by the several companies have been revoked. Migrant labourers are stuck away from their family. With this loss in every sector, it is common for people to have experiencing some sort of anxiety. But, we need to keep in our mind that this is the need of the hour. We have to save ourselves and our country. As it is said, ‘Tough times don’t last, tough people do’. We have to be tough and strong.
Anxiety happens pertaining to the stress an individual feels, regarding anything. An article in The Hindu, dated 22nd April, 2020 mentioned that anxiety among the people have increased amid Covid-19. But we have to overcome anxiety to come out stronger of this pandemic. By keeping the courage and faith in ourselves and god, very soon our country will win over this pandemic. People who are with their family and closed ones should utilise this time and see this as an opportunity to spend and invest more time to love themselves and people around. This is because once everything will get back to normal, people tend to forget this in the rush of life. And for people, who are stuck somewhere or living alone at the moment, should re-discover themselves, try to follow their passion and introspect. Do exercise, binge watch and have some ‘me-time’ because it often happens in the normal course of life. A best way to restrain anxiety is ‘meditate’; meditation will bring peace of mind. And most importantly spread awareness and think of how lucky you are to have a shelter, food and all the things which many still lack. Keep reminding yourself of your achievements and compare to those who dream of things you have, you’ll feel good, it’s psychologically proven.
By restraining anxiety, you are already achieving a good balance of your mental health. During this period of pandemic, make mental health your priority because health is wealth, no matter physical health or mental health. Also, don’t panic if you are losing your jobs, if you are healthy, you could get another. Your attitude determines your direction. Have a positive outlook towards life. So, keep yourself happy. Associate with yourself more and eliminate negativity. Count your blessings.
Lastly, stay safe. Help the needy. Thank god and those working for us in these tough times. I pray for good health for all of us. Ending with a point to remember for all out there,
