India always has been a beautiful, diverse, secular, and democratic country to live in. Still, The growth that our nation has shown in the past decade in terms of its Economy, employment, literacy rate, RND, international cooperation, political stability, gender equality, etc is exceptional. Digitalization has proved to be a strong pillar for this revolution and change. The scenario in which our country was a few decades ago was not to our best capability but technology has helped us to excel AND TRANSFORM in many sectors of society. In this present day, we all are surrounded by technology and at the same time experiencing the ease it has made in our day-to-day lives.

Our government understood the impact digitalization can make in the overall growth of India and thus the ‘digital India for new India’ was initiated by our honorable PM mr Narender Modi on 1 July 2015 with its objective of making India a digitally empowered country. Making technology so accessible to us by the government, gives us an opportunity and power to empower ourselves.

Given are the ways through which digitalization can and has crawled into our lives for the betterment of our society as a whole:

  1. Farmers, the people who are responsible for keeping our stomachs satiated, are introduced to various harvest programs.
  2. More work opportunities especially in the IT sector, so that people are not on the constant edge of unemployment.
  3. Accessible education for underprivileged children.
  4. Safety for Women by the creation of various helpline numbers by the government.
  5. Easy access to digital Documents by the creation of various forms like digilocker so that people don’t have to hassle to get their work done.
  6. Secure cyberspace experience so that the privacy of an individual is not compromised.
  7. NeGP delivery.
  8. Easy access to healthcare connecting patients, hospitals, and doctors through a single digital platform.
  9. Cashless transactions so that people don’t have to hassle for change.
  10. Alerts for various environmental calamities.
  11. Digitalization has made internet access very accessible, especially in rural areas.

Even though digitalization has rapidly evolved and is being adopted by a major section of society, a part of it still finds it burdensome and ambitious to keep up with the changes. Challenges and drawbacks faced by people are;

  1. Small-scale industries find it difficult to keep up with the new trends.
  2. Lack of knowledge on what goes into the working of IT SECTORS.
  3. Difficult access to smooth-speed internet in some areas.
  4. Lack of skills required for digital technology.
  5. Security on the internet is still an issue for which the Government and its associations are working every day to make it a safe space.

India is a developing country and efforts are being made consistently by its government, officials, and citizens to make it a developed country digitalization in recent years has proved to be the essence of making this dream of making the nation empowered, a reality. We as a country still have a long way to go but With consistent effort as a whole in adapting, evolving, and learning we can make India a country that inspires other developing countries in the world!
