There were athletes who came from many countries,
To participate at the 2016 Rio Olympics and create cherishing memories!
With all their months and years of training, put to test,
For their country, everyone was determined to give their best.
It had been a great day so far,
And the debutants trying hard to come out as a rising star.
The last event of the day was a 5000m race,
The athletes trying to win using all their pace!
The racers were ready for the gun shot,
The loudspeakers announcing their names, while they waited at their spot.
And then the race began,
With all their strength, the athletes ran!
But suddenly, two athletes collided with each other,
One of them, seemed to be in a state of bother.
The first athlete stood up immediately,
But the other one, couldn’t stand properly!
But, something remarkable happened,
The fit athlete helped her counterpart, which left the audience stunned!
While her counterpart was staggering and limping,
The athlete was resolute to make her win, even though she got a hamstring!
And the race won something like this,
Which on seeing, fills hearts with joy and bliss!
Both the athletes, held hands together,
To the records of compassion, they added a new feather!
The International Fair Play Committee Award was awarded to them,
In the history of the Olympics, this race proved out to be a gem!
And what’s more is that they both got a place in the final,
Of Compassion and Sportsmanship, both these athletes became a symbol!
