Meredith trods down the street,
Eagerly waiting for her best friend, a small kitty, to meet.
Aura was the cat’s name,
Whose fate, Meredith thought, might have been the same.
Meredith lived under a shed away from the city,
Her life after losing her parents, will make you and me feel pity.
Selling candles was how she survived all day long,
Believing nothing more could ever go wrong!
Her encounter with Aura is no less than a countryside song,
With each passing day, their bond grew even more strong.
Buying milk with as much money as she got,
She was used to Aura proudly presenting mice she had caught!
Now while waiting, Meredith imagined Aura approaching in her feline pride,
As she enjoyed the love she shared with Aura on her side
Breezing her hand through Aura’s fur brought her tranquillity,
Meredith was glad to have someone in her isolated city!
Still waiting by the cross-roads, their meeting place,
Meredith found Aura providing her much-needed solace.
Blinking her tiny crystal eyes, Meredith again imagined Aura arriving,
As she spread her arms, into which, the kitty loved diving!
But now, she saw something on the other side,
Pedestrians standing in a circle way too wide!
Seeing a crowd in the selfish city made Meredith ponder,
People standing together, it’s no less than any wonder.
Attracted by the crowd, Meredith rushed to see,
Pushing past the crowd, she tried to glance at what it could all be.
And there she saw her pretty Aura in a peaceful sleep,
Ran over… and yet keeping a smile, so… so… deep!
