I was born in a splendid lawn,
With all the luxuries and lushes,
In the gilded world with its golden ways.
All I have to do is abide,
To the plan they have devised.
That's my destiny, my fate.
Give and take,
That’s how the world rotates.
Born with innocence,
No will and no wisdom,
I didn’t know how to discern,
Between right and wrong,
Fairy and Wizard,
Both appeared alike.
This seemed the only plan,
So, I just glided along the lines,
Without any lifelines.
As I grew and spread my wings,
Dreams began to breathe life into me.
I looked for a different lane,
Devoid of golden dupes,
Something I could call my own
Earned through my will and ways
That nobody could confiscate,
For it wasn’t a clause in their edicts.
While trying to walk out
I realised there was no easy way out
Circling in the cage, I understood
Mere courage is not enough for this flight
The right tools are needed at the right time
To carve my way out
Dazzled by the luster of the golden gates
They say all I want is just a phase
Becoming a rebel is something everyone faces
When you have the golden days,
What else is there to covet?
I might have the golden days
But no moonlit nights
Nights aren’t meant to be golden, are they?
I’m grateful for all the days
But I also need a serene haze
If I’m not allowed to be free
What’s the point of the glittery days?
Golden Gates seems like a golden cage
And a golden cage is still a cage
With reason and wisdom,
I question the norms and the eyebrows they raise
Their concerns are true and I don’t deny them
Maybe I won’t survive the darkness of the moonless nights
It’s starkly different from the golden light
But not even giving it a try
Is like being dethroned before being crowned
Is that how blessed people are summarised?
Battling you before the actual fight
Only makes it tougher for me to survive
For in this gilded world, I strive to find,
A place where my spirit is truly aligned.
Will you support my quest for light,
Or confine me in this perpetual night?
Questioning their golden ways
Got me a way out of the golden gates
One battle won and so many ahead to triumph
The path is rough yet my steps were firm
The future is dubious but the past is radiant
And with each step, my strength renews.
The battle won gave me courage for the new.
Years later, even now
I am daunted by this new light
But in the end, it's worth the strife,
To truly live and love my life.
Beyond the golden cage’s gleam,
Every step still seems like a rollercoaster ride
But it’s exhilarating at the same time.
It’s exhausting at times
But it’s surely better than the golden life.
