Society puts a lot of pressure and restrictions on a child to protect them. But sometimes, these restrictions bind and make a child lose his innocence.

Over the ages, humans have fought many battles, be it the freedom struggle or any pandemic. Yet the battle of life seems to be the hardest because of the certain stereotypes that society forms and continues to follow.

A child is born
With a mind and soul
That is free and bright
Unaware of any norms
That the people around forms
Without distinctions between good and bad
Without limitations of light and dark
Rich or poor, both are fine
Living their days with delight

After some days,
Their perfect bays
Are stormed by the unwanted rains
And they were introduced,
To the norms and ways
Of their dwelling space
Their world has changed
And the new world has more rain.

Under the glimpse of some unwritten laws
They were forced to put away their cheerful toys
Rules were there to keep them out of harm's way
But somehow it has taken away their blissful days
The world is no longer the same old safe place
So they must abide or, they won't survive

Their hands and legs tied
With ropes of rules that deny
And keeps them from doing
What all they like
The strings are so fine
Cutting through their delicate skin
Every time they try to get something they like

And there is no system to amend the binding laws
No doctors to heal the anguishing hearts
No lawyers to send out appeals
Only judges with messed-up brains
Giving verdicts that inflict more pain
Making things worse day by day
Turning kids into fugitives
As they try to remain in their domain

The child keeps germinating within the messed-up ways
With no way out to their cheerful bays
Shoots up to be the same judges with messed-up brains
Making this vicious cycle
An endless loop
Where children keep missing the good old days
When they were whatever they want to be
Sometimes gleeful like a shady tree
Sometimes pitiful like a shredded tree
But always free
Waiting for someone to come and write
A new book of rules
And they can be free!!!
