The construction of Ram Mandir has been a monumental event in the history of India, and the much-awaited RAM MANDIR of AYODHYA has geared up its construction and is leading towards its completion. The grand inaugural pooja and consecration ceremony would not be less than a festival. The 'PRAN PRATISHA' ceremony of Lord Ram's idol will take place on 22 January, which will mark the inauguration of the grand RAM MANDIR.

Surya Stambh or the Sun Pillar or pillar of symbol of Sun god, is a prominent feature of the Ram Mandir complex. Dedicated to the solar deity, Surya, it serves as a representation of the divine, radiance and light. The choice of constructing these pillars is not only to pay homage to the Hindu God of energy- Surya, but also a symbolic gesture of energy, power, strength and triumph over darkness.

These are grey pillars carved with 'Sri Ram', floral and geometric patterns, etc., and embellished with sun-shaped lights. Surya Stambh are installed in over 40 places on Dharma Path and in 25 places all over Ayodhya.

Dharma Path is a four-lane stretch from Lata Mangeshkar Chowk to the Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway. This 2km stretch joins the highway with Ram Janmabhoomi.

These pillars not only showcase the history and cultural heritage but the relevance of Shri Ram with the Sun God, as well.

Symbolic Element:

1. Symbol of life, light and energy:

SURYA, the Hindu sun god, is considered the source of energy, light, and life. According to Hindu mythology and the living science as well it is because of the sun only that life exists on the earth, would Sun life would have been impossible, because light and energy are two essential components of life.

The Surya Stambh, through its association with the solar deity, symbolizes divine light that fades away darkness, and a sense of energy and brigs forth knowledge of life.

2. Spiritual Enlightenment:

The Surya Stambh is not merely a physical structure but a representation of journey towards spiritual enlightenment. The carvings on the pillars are done in they way that even a sight of them enlightens the soul and body.

In ancient times rulers used to install Vijay Stambh after the win, to mark their win and sovereignty. These pillars are also regarded as symbols of sovereignty.

6. Sun City:

As per authorities, it is a future plan to develop Ayodhya as a city-powered solar power or as Sun City. The Surya Stambh here is symbolic of the future and strength, that the Sun would be the core of the city of Lord Ram.

Dimensions:

There are 40 pillars installed over Dharma Path and 25 pillars all over the city.

Each pillar is:

  • 6ft high,
  • 5ft in diameter,
  • A 10mm circular glass light would be installed at the top of each pillar.
