To begin with, Dreams have been a wonderful part of our lives where equality doesn’t matter. Each and every individual living at all ends of this society does aspire for something beyond what they have or pursue including myself. But only a few of these dreams come true through people's consistent efforts to achieve what they dreamt of. Be it the great scientist and former President of India Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam's successful launch of “SLV III” or the first Indian woman astronaut Mrs. Kalpana Chawla's “Mission to space”, their success is rooted in their untold dreams. It might sound crazy to people in your family or neighbourhood, but when you sculpt it carefully, you will definitely master your dreams which is worth your time.

I had dreamt a lot of things during my childhood, out of which I found out my actual goal when I was pursuing my 1st year at college. Until that, I was told to become a doctor and was not given the right to decide my passion, which is a sort of normalized thing that happens at every home in this “like-minded” society. People of this society are aware of only four dominant professions which become the major hindrance for children like us to think beyond those ones.

One day, My lecturer questioned me about my dream. I wasn’t ready to answer it for several reasons. I simply answered, “I don’t know, sir”. He expected me to give at least one valid reason. But I didn’t answer him at that point of time. When I entered my home, I explained to my mother about the hindrances to achieving my long-time dream of working abroad, which seemed to be a kind of untold dream according to my family and neighbourhood. Though It was crazy in their vision, their points were factual. They questioned my illness due to which I was circumscribed to the doors of this society.

I was suffering from a rare condition called “Myodesopsia”, which occurs mostly in people over 60 years of age. The preliminary cause for this condition is “Presbyopia”, which refers to the long-sightedness caused by the loss of elasticity of the lens of the eye. Children suffering from this condition become restricted and confined to their surroundings due to it’s progressive severity. They are affected mentally due to visible floaters and lesions. At the initial stages, there are possibilities for cure but if it has progressed, it leads to retinal detachment, resulting in loss of sight. Right now, I have not reached the extreme stage, but it is continuously progressing as the years pass.

I knew that the path to my goal had horrible thorns in it.

Nevertheless, I cross it with complete willingness and confidence as I feel that a woman should be independent and knowledgeable and should also have the ability to break all those so-called sayings of society which became the ultimate reason for me to choose such an untold dream.
