In the vibrant town of Bloomville nestled between rolling hills, and majestic rivers lived a girl named Lily and her family. She was a very hardworking and talented girl. She was praised by the people of her town for her various achievements. Her parents loved and adored her and were very proud of her. She excelled in everything including her studies and other co-curricular activities as well.

One fine day Lily’s dad asked her, “Daughter what do you want for your birthday this year”? then she replied, “A beautiful flower dad, hearing her answer her dad was speechless because she could have asked for things like toys, clothes, or anything she wished for, but leaving all those aside, his daughter only asked for a flower, so he smiled at her and said okay kiddo, “I will bring a flower for you”.

Weeks passed and finally, it was Lily’s tenth birthday. Lily woke up, brushed her teeth and went outside and she saw that her friends and neighbors came to wish her a happy birthday. Lily smiled and said thank you and then invited them to her birthday party.

Lily’s Dad, Mr. Anderson, came with a small packet of seeds in his hand and he called Lily and handed the seeds, saying Happy birthday my child and her mother gifted her a flower pot so that she would be able to grow those seeds in it. Lily’s eyes sparkled and said thank you Mom and dad. Her father then cleared his throat and said, “I have brought a Lily for my Lily”, at first she was confused, but after a few seconds she figured out that her dad had brought Lily seeds for her. She felt so happy and told her parents, “Mom and dad I’ll plant these Lily seeds today”.

Lily then got ready for her birthday party wearing a cute red frock with her hair down and then the guests were waiting for her to arrive at the birthday hall and when she arrived they wished her and gave her birthday presents. Lily then blew the candles and everybody sang, “Happy Birthday Lily”, while she cut the cake. While the guests were having fun, she brought the seeds and a flower pot and said to them, “I got these seeds as a birthday present from my dad and I will plant these seeds on my birthday”, and the guests cheered for her and then she planted the seeds and kept it in the garden. Her parents smiled and said,” May this Lily grow tall as our Lily”.

The next day Lily woke up and the first thing she did was check the seeds that she planted last night. She watered the seeds and went back happily to have her breakfast. Her dad then told her that it would take time for the seeds to develop and she should water the seeds everyday and she happily nodded her head hinting that she will do so.

Months passed and tiny white roots had grown and stems had developed but not even a single leaf emerged from the seeds. Lily’s parents saw that their daughter was disheartened seeing that the flower she planted showed no progress, so they reassured Lily saying my dear child don’t ever give up just keep on watering the seeds. Hearing that Lily felt comforted and she continued to water the seeds hoping that a beautiful flower would bloom one day.

Lily did not give up and everyday she continued to water the plant, cause ever since she was a kid, she excelled in every field and she never failed in her life, so she was very determined to nurture the plant that she had planted years ago.

Years have passed, and Lily had completed her high school. As usual she remained as a talented young lady who was loved by everyone.

As her twentieth birthday was approaching Lily made a wish, saying that all she wanted for her birthday this year is to see the plant which she had planted bloom into a beautiful flower.

A few weeks later, Lily turned twenty and her parents hugged her and wished her a happy birthday they asked her, “Dear daughter what do you want for your birthday this year”, then she replied I have already made a wish so, I am just waiting for it to be granted. After hearing her answer, her parents immediately knew that their daughter had made a wish for the plant to bloom.

Lily then rushed to the garden hoping that her wish would be granted, and to her surprise she saw that the leaves had developed, seeing that she screamed happily, and hearing her scream her parents came running to her and saw their daughter was jumping with joy and when they shifted their focus to the flowers pot they saw that the beautiful leaves have emerged. Lily then said to her parents, Mom and Dad “This is the best day ever”.

Many years later, Lily had completed her academic pursuits and now she is working in an office in which she is the Chief Executive officer as her office was located in a city, she rarely got a chance to visit her hometown and her parents, but she always made sure to check on them and every time she gave them a phone call she always asks about the plant which she had planted, as her parents were taking care of it while she was away.

Every time she calls her parents, Lily always hears the news that the plant has shown no progress, it is still the same, since the last time she saw them, only the leaves have spread but there is no sign of flowers, hearing that she always felt disappointed but as usual she did not give up and she always told her parents to keep on watering the plant.

A few months later, Lily called her parents and when her parents answered her call, they heard that their daughter was sobbing they asked her what was wrong, then Lily told her parents that she was no longer the chief executive officer and she had been removed from her position because the headquarters did not like the change in the company’s strategy so they proceeded in terminating her. Her parents said that it was completely absurd, and then they remained quiet for a moment, hearing that her daughter was going through a rough phase their hearts were shattered, but they quickly pulled themselves together and said, “Daughter come back home, it is going to be okay we are always here for you “.

Lily arrived home and as soon as she saw her parents she broke down in tears because she is the kind of person who has always made them proud but this time she felt that she had failed. Her parents reassured her saying that it was going to be okay and suddenly, she rushed to the garden and started to water the plant and shouted in agony by saying, “Even if I fail in life, I will make this plant bloom.”

She always kept herself preoccupied, she was busy taking care of the plant and watered it regularly.

A few days later she visited her garden again and this time she saw that the stems had grown taller, and more leaves had spread, seeing this she felt happy and informed her parents about the good news.

Each and every day she kept on watering the plant and now she felt more and more optimistic.

Then nine months later, she saw that a beautiful bud had formed, seeing that her heart was filled with joy and happiness.

One fine night Lily woke up and went to the garden again and to her surprise, she saw that her hard work had blossomed into success. The plant which she had planted since her childhood had blossomed into a beautiful white Lily, then she screamed and cried, saying “My wish has come true”. Hearing her cry her parents woke up and rushed to the garden their eyes were filled with tears and they were happy seeing that a beautiful white Lily had finally blossomed. Lily then turned to her parents and said Mom and Dad, I have an idea, “I am going to open a flower shop, specializing in Lilie”, then her parents hugged her and said daughter “We are always here to support you in whatever you do”.

A year later Lily finally opened her own flower shop and she named the shop “Lily’s Wish” Many customers got curious about it and visited her flower shop and when they entered the shop they saw a wide range of lilies, there were peaceful lilies, oriental lilies, Eastern lilies and many more. The customers adored her and her flower collections as well and Lily’s shop flourished.

One fine day a customer visited her shop and asked her, “maam why is your shop named “Lily’s Wish” Then she replied “Ever since my childhood I had only one wish”, and told her customer that, on her birthday her dad had gifted her a Lily seed but it took many years for the seeds to develop and she always wished to see that plant blossom into a beautiful flower and one night her wish did come true and then she also told her how she lost her job before starting this shop and it was the Lily plant that inspired her to start over. The customer was touched by hearing her story and said to her although those seeds took many years to grow look at you Lily you are flourishing and blooming just like those lilies then the customer purchased peace lilies for herself and left the shop with a warm smile on her face.

Lily’s shop became more and more famous. People from all over the town and cities visited her shop not only for the flowers but also for her inspiring magical story. Her story inspired a lot of people who were on the verge of giving up. The Lily plant which she planted years ago became a symbol of her struggles and achievements as well.

Lily became well-known and successful. Her parents were very proud of her and they knew by heart that the Lily that their daughter had planted symbolizes her struggles, hope, and new beginnings. They all learned that “even though our dreams and hopes seem to wither, they can still bloom again in unexpected ways.”
