Poverty is one of the biggest problems faced in the globe. You may be wondering, what is poverty? Well, it is when you can't afford proper food, potable water, or even a safe place to live. Almost 700 million people in the world suffer from the wrath of poverty. Poverty can be caused by many reasons such as a natural calamity or a world pandemic.
For example, during the Covid 19 world pandemic, every place was on lockdown, and businesses and jobs started dropping, leaving many people unemployed. Poverty can also be caused by situations like poor health due to low sanitation of a place, getting fired from a job, or getting discriminated against while applying for a job. You must have seen poverty many times in your city or village. When you see them, how do you feel? Sadness, pity, sorrow, depression? Those are the feelings any kind person would have. People who suffer from poverty are either disabled or are only able to say gibberish. Their children even have to work to earn some money to live on instead of being sent to school for proper education. Can you believe it? They live by 1$ and 2 cents a day and have no money left. But, why can't we just print a big pile of money and distribute all of it? You may be wondering, well, it's complicated, because of many natural calamities and mishaps, we are unable to do so. To print a huge pile of money, we need to be in an area free of any calamity, but nowadays, we aren't able to find many places like that. This is why we can't do much in printing more money. However, we can do many things as an individual. For example, we all know that there are many rich and high-class people in the world, but they aren't ready to give at least some money to poor people. However, you as an individual can give some money and even persuade your rich friends to give them some money for a living. You can also participate in this contest (just like me) and write your feelings to the world inspiring other people to take action on this world poverty dilemma. Many schools and colleges are offering a free education system to poor kids whose parents are not capable of paying the school or college fees. Jobs are starting to increase and many campaigns are being held by many individuals.
UNESCO and other organizations are giving money to many people suffering from poverty. One such example is Persa, who is an 83-year-old woman living in Serbia. She is one of the many people in the world who is suffering from poverty. She is poor cannot see well and can't even walk, yet she still can't do surgery due to high blood pressure and less money. So, she received a humanitarian cash prize. But, she said that 7000 dinars isn't enough to pay for her food, the electricity bill, etc. She can only pay for her eye surgery and nothing else. That is when UNESCO came and gave her enough money to live her life fully.
Hearing this story, you all must be thinking, can I do something to help? or, will I just fail and just waste my time? If you're thinking that, my friend, you are wrong. You can do something, you can do anything. Anything you contribute is a big deal. The UN said that we must end world poverty by 2030. So, why don't we all just stop hesitating and start doing it?
