INTRODUCTION 

As you know Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa is the Indian Chess Grandmaster.  So let's know about his journey. R.Praggnanandhaa belongs to  Tamil Nadu (state of India). He was born on 10 August 2005 in Chennai. His father works as a branch manager in the state corporate bank of Tamil Nadu while his mother Naag Laxmi is a housewife. His mother tongue is Tamil. At the age of just 3 years, R.Praggnanandhaa started learning chess and from that time he started learning the tricks of this game. While his sister's name is Vaishali who was the second one to learn this game. She is also a female grandmaster. 

When R.Praggnanandhaa started playing this game at higher levels, his mother Naag Lakshmi also came forward to support her children. R.Praggnanandhaa became famous all over the world at the age of 16. And became the world's first International master of chess at the age of 10 in 2016.

During the year 2016, R.Praggnanandhaa won the World Grand Master title and with this title, he became the youngest player from India.  or along with this his name in the grand master list in 5th position in the world

FIDE WORLD CUP 2023: "Federation Internationale des Echecs" 

About the event:

The FIDE World Cup 2023 is taking place from 29 July to 25 August 2023 in Baku, Azerbaijan.


  • In the Open tournament, 206 players were eligible to take part, and 103 in the Women's event.
  • There will be eight rounds in the Open and seven in the Women's tournament. Each round will be played under a knock-out system, consisting of a 2-game match. In the case of a tie, the players will play a rapid and, if necessary, a blitz tiebreak until the winner is determined.
  • The winners of the top three places in both sections will qualify for the 2024 Candidates tournament.
  • In both events, the time control for each game is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.
  • The prize fund for the entire event is 2.5 million US Dollars, with $1,834,000 in the Open and $676,250 in the Women's tournament. The 2023 FIDE World Cup has the largest prize fund for any chess tournament ever played.


R.PRAGGNANANDHAA : FIDE WORLD CUP 2023 

At the age of just 18, a boy did wonders in the world of chess.  While Children of this age are worried about their careers, R.Praggnanandhaa spreading his magic in Chess World Cup.  

Now we discuss how R.Praggnanandha got this achievement.

Now 18, he’s become the first Indian since Viswanathan Anand in 2002 to reach the semifinals of the FIDE World Cup after beating compatriot Arjun Erigaisi in a frantic sudden-death blitz showdown after eight previous games failed to find a winner in Baku on Thursday,17 August 2023.

And after that.

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa stunned world No.3 Fabiano Caruana 3.5-2.5 via the tie-break in the semifinals of the FIDE World chess tournament.

After this, he reached the final and played in the final of the World Cup with Magnus Carlsen. 


R.PRAGGNANANDHAA Vs MAGNUS CARLSEN 

Magnus Carlsen is the 5th Times world champion. It's hard nut to beat Magnus Carlsen but R.Praggnanandhaa tried his best and played very well. 

On 24 August 2023 In the 1st tie breaker which is 25 minutes, 10 seconds of move time is added and Praggnanandhaa had to face defeat.  Magnus played 47 runs or played an attacking game but R.Praggnanandhaa's defense was in trouble and after 37 runs Carlsen won the match.  2nd tie breaker round After a 37 run, Carlsen reached the strongest stage and After this, there was a draw happened till the end of the match.  R. Praggnanandhaa had remaining 14 minutes and Magnus had 24 minutes 41 seconds left.

18-year-old R.Praggnanandhaa is the overall best player.  Magnus Carlsen won the World Cup and R.Praggnanandhaa won the silver medal by securing a second position and Qualified for the 2024 Candidate Tournament.
