There will exist greed when there exists human. There will exist corruption when there exists society.

Since the dawn of civilisations, lust for power and wealth has run rampant among fellow humans. Many won’t shy away from taking other’s assets because after all, a person only cares for himself, his family, and friends. Sometimes not even that as we see many a time one betrays his own kinship to gain a few possessions. Some wrongdoings take place in broad daylight while some behind the curtains. Desire is human nature, as many believe it brings them peace. Hence, to gain what one wishes to gain, one must have money. The good, old money.

Most of things in this world can be brought by monetary wealth which causes people to go to a great extent to secure it. Some will even sell their own morals for it. Few use names of religions and gods to collect money from people and fool them. It is fascinating to know what extent an individual can commit sins to gain wealth. One can bring harm to people and ruin their life with the use of money but also one can improve someone else’s life with the same money. Unfortunately, most of people who are in possession of great wealth don’t use it for other’s benefit but rather use it for their own gain and further, corrupting others.

Corruption has ruined a few great nations and many great individuals. Every place in this world has a few corrupt individuals who place their own individual goals and aspirations over the development of society. This leads to great disparities in wealth between individuals and widens the economic divide. A lot of religions teach greed and envy to be sinful and wicked and yet people of those religions are also seen to engage in these wrongdoings. The corrupted one doesn’t realise that filling a pocket could result in an innocent getting hanged on false basis or a family being tortured to death. Or rather, he doesn’t care of such things.

People prefer dishonest, effortless work over hard work and honesty. The quick success comes with price of sacrificing good values. Money tempts people to wrongdoings. They are ready to turn blind eye to all misdeeds in exchange for an easy pay. Society calculates a person’s worth based on wealth, instead of deeds. The amount of wealth in a person’s account is seen more important than a genuine heart. As a result, more people aim to fill their pockets with money. Most choose to do it in easy, fast methods like fraud and bribery.

Too many corrupt politicians have ruined the country. Every single political party is filled with corrupt ones who bribe and take bribe, day and night. These, so called people’s representatives give out promises which are often false as they use public’s money to live a luxurious life while common people suffer. Eat up funds for government schools so that their children can study in most prestigious schools while the students of some government school study without proper fans, lights and other basic amenities. Eat up funds for public transports project so people who travel through public transport suffer while they buy the new series of Audi or Mercedes for their comfort. There is no rotten apple, the entire tree is rotten.

The cops are no indifferent, they take bribe and fail to perform their duty. The ones who take stain their honourable uniforms with the dirty money. They take money to falsely put an innocent behind bars so that real criminals stay safe in their houses, in care of their family while the family of falsely accused ones grieve for injustice. Taking bribes from ones who break traffic instead of punishing them which results in more people breaking the traffic rules as the rule breakers are never punished. People appointed to serve the public only manage to serve people of high positions.

It's not just the politicians and cops but there exist greedy individuals in every organisation. There are many charity organizations who collect money from people in pretext of charity but these funds never reach the needy individuals who need those funds but rather they end up in accounts of some tour companies as the head of that charity organization and his family pack bags for their holidays in Italy or Paris. Or these organization heads end up buying $6 million villa with charity funds as happened with the leaders of a BLM charity. Wonder where that money came from. Maybe it was a gift from God for their good work.

One can argue that a person accumulates wealth so that his loved ones can have a relaxed lifestyle where they can have whatever they wish. Though, is this lifestyle of tranquillity and luxury really that important if it disturbs or brings harm to someone else? Social structure of our civilisation is such that competition is encouraged instead of collaboration. People are pitted against one another to compete for obtaining wealth and high social status. It is taught since our childhood to look up to people with higher wealth and look down on people with less wealth. After all, success of most goals is calculated on a monetary basis.

Humans can never be satisfied with the amount of wealth they possess, as the desire for having more is always stronger. They need to consider that there are many individuals who may lack in wealth but are thoroughly satisfied with what they have. Being satisfied with amount of money one has is more important than thinking of having more wealth.

A person comes to life on this planet without any possessions and will leave this plane of existence without any possessions too. So, the race for collecting as much as wealth as one can is realized to be futile only when one reaches his final moments. Gaining respect and love from people is what a person can aim for instead of running after materialistic goods. After all, when we pass away, we will be remembered more for who we were, not what we had.
