Emotions always have a way of revealing your true identity. So why do they need to be managed, tamed, controlled, or even confronted?
If broken down into its component pieces, emotional intelligence is composed of both intelligence and emotions.
Ironically, and amusingly enough, while the entire world is going crazy about the society's intelligence and brainpower gig, every business is trying to cash in on the society's emotions!
While everyone is trying to convince you that you should learn to control your emotions and have the intelligence to distinguish between right and wrong, every advertisement is trying to hit the same emotional chords in you so that you start investing in them with the emotional connection they have just sparked in you!
While the entire world is drawn to you because you have a remarkable mind, it is your emotions that will inspire empathy, compassion, and kindness for everything around you.
While the whole world is out there to motivate you to become the most powerful human being, it is the emotion within you that keeps you grounded and understands what being human is all about!
In my opinion, emotional maturity and intelligence are not about managing or taming your emotions. It involves freely accepting and recognizing them with all of your heart and soul.
You don't suddenly become emotionally mature because you stop feeling emotions; rather, it happens because you've learned to recognize them and continue to be cognizant of them.
Feel hurt? Feel pained? Feel happy? Sad? Overwhelmed? Excited? Jealous? Peaceful? Good! It means your emotions are intact.
Let’s stop judging ourselves for being emotional. That’s the most foolish thing to do and imbibe.
Do not try to distract yourself from your emotions. You are free to openly feel them, hear them out, experience them, and then pacify them too. Take your time to enjoy them, not shy away from them. They are you and you are made of them!
Love someone? Tell them. Miss someone? Call them. Felt attracted about something? Compliment them.
Just remember one rule – Be supremely genuine about it. There is no harm is being truthful, authentic, and being honest about who you are. You should never become hard on yourself for being true to yourself. You shouldn't let anything prevent you from being you.
Do not go by those people who are constantly feeding your mind about not to be emotional.
Remember - Winning cups, medals and accolades are far more easy than winning people, perceptions, and peace!
…. And that, my friend, never came from playing mind games ever!
It is only when you have emotions, you can experience joy, sorrow, pain, and pleasure. Do not be ashamed of being emotional. That’s where most of the anxiety and depression begins!
Because we all breathe, love, and shine, life continues to exist. Only a dead body is known to be lifeless or else, we’d all be Robots!
