Today we live in a time where things change rapidly; everyone has to come up with something every day that will help them to lead their life satisfactorily or maybe at least for their survival. Like every other day, waking up every morning at 6 am, while brushing, the only thing that came in the mind of Kushi was, “the tasks to be completed”. Her world was revolving around her daily routine. No social life, no self-care and at the end of the day all she felt was weary. When this series kept on going, her spirit dried out.

One day, a call for a helping hand in mom’s kitchen garden was a turning point in her life. She often went there to help her mother. Spending some time there was reviving her spirit. Whenever she looked at those beautiful flowers blooming or the blossoms of banana plants, it was pleasing in her sight. As the days passed, she saw those flowers withering away; banana plants drying up. In her mind, the thoughts were like nothing was permanent and everything in this world had a limited time was ruminated. She was so caught up with these thoughts that she was unable to look at the other side of the plants. As time passed and things kept on changing, but nothing changed in Kushi’s life. Still, she would go to the kitchen garden to help her mother but her fixed mindset didn’t allow her to look at those minute changes that were taking place.

On Sunday, when the members of the family went for a function, she was all alone at home. In the evening she went to the kitchen garden to water them. As she thought of watering the banana plant first, she was stunned. She saw the peduncle, a bunch of bananas, and the male flower hanging and then turned around and saw other flowering plants bearing buds. Her tears were rolling down; she was on her knees, weeping. She said,” I can also blossom again. Yes! Yes! I can too”. She looked up and thanked God for making her understand that, like these plants, undergo different stages, yet at every stage it was growing, even when their flowers withered away or leaves got dried, it was growing. She understood that it was her way of looking at things that were making her miserable. From that day onwards, she changed her perspective. She was happy to see another day; she was happy to feel the warmth of the sun; she was happy to feel the wind; dried leaves or withered flowers didn’t bother her anymore. From Kushi, joy started radiating.
