In simple words, politics is the way that people live in society or groups and make their own fundamental decisions. This is a way of making agreements between the masses so that they can live together in groups such as tribes, cities, or countries. Large groups like a country some people spend a lot of their time for making such agreements. In modern democracy politics is to some extent can be defined as social work also. But this social work is in terms of gathering power or in other words controlling the mass interests. But, in the case of social work, they do work for the people without any interest only for their self-satisfaction. Here lies the basic difference between politics and social work. Generally, NGOs and religious organizations carry out these types of social works with zero profit or any self-interest with the motto of serving the needy people.

Now let us classify the politics . The basic types of political systems recognized are democracies and totalitarian, regimes, and sitting between these two only are authoritarian regimes with a variety of hybrid regimes. The modern classification system also includes monarchies as a stand-alone entity or as a hybrid system of the main three. In the case of India is a parliamentary secular democratic republic in which the President of India is the head of state and the first citizen of the country and the Prime Minister of India is the head of government. It is based on the federal structure of government although the word is not used in the constitution itself. The definition of politics was provided by Easton in his identification of the political system with the Authoritative allocation of values for a society. This provided many political scientists with a useful guideline for delimiting the content of political science.

Now let me focus on social work in brief. Social work is a practice based on profession and an academic discipline that promotes social changes & developments, social cohesion, and the empowerment of inclusive people’s liberation, principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility, and respect for diversities are the focal points to the social work.

Basically social work is a helping profession. The primary mission of the social work profession is to meet the basic and complex needs of all people with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed living in poverty & below the poverty limit.Hence we can say social work is a profession in which trained professionals are devoted to helping vulnerable people and communities work through challenges they face in everyday life. Social workers practice in a wide variety of settings, united in their commitment to advocating for and improving the lives of individuals, families, groups, and societies.

The purpose of social work is to enable children, adults, families, groups, and communities to function, participate & develop in society. Social workers are employed by a range of statutory, voluntary, and private organizations and work in collaboration with colleagues from allied professions and departments as part of a network of welfare, health, housing, education, and criminal justice provision. Social work and criminal justice agencies are given specific responsibilities & powers through statutes and social workers and probation officers have to practice within the legislative framework and organizational policies and procedures. They have to balance the needs of the wider community and to provide appropriate levels of support, advocacy, care, protection & necessary control.

These are the comparisons in between politics and social work in a nutshell.
