The majority of people won't be capable of recalling a time before social media was invented. It is increasingly difficult to imagine a future without social media considering that it has become such a significant part of everyday life. Nowadays, there are ever-more situations where having access to the Internet is necessary. After the year 2020, mankind started to experience these technological advancements because the coronavirus, a really deadly disease, caused a lockdown across the entire country. There was complete silence. Everyone was locked up inside their house behind solitary confinement. The Internet was the only thing that kept us alive throughout that period. Unbeknownst to us, the internet—which we initially perceived as a boon—has really proven to be a curse. The internet was created to simplify our lives but as a result of the introduction of a more lethal disease than the coronavirus, which people often refer to as "social media," we are now encased in our lives.

It was considerably simpler to live. Less distractions and more face-to-face interaction as opposed to constantly glancing at our cell phones. Remember a time before social media? While it wasn't ideal, it felt like some aspects of life were more productive while others moved much more slowly.

People were less connected and more interested in their communities in the days before social media. They had fewer online connections but more solid ties offline; they preferred sending each other presents instead of merely sending SMS greetings on occasion; they also valued gatherings with family; and there was apparently a different sense of affinity back then. People seldom are even not aware of who lives next door. It's shocking, but occasionally people lose track of time and even fail to eat their one-time meal because they are too occupied browsing on their smartphones.

People have begun to lose their abilities. Whenever they get pushed to do anything, they frequently choose for the simpler option even if it is less viable. Even if the information on the internet is factually erroneous, and we are given a task with a short deadline and little time to spare, we will opt to copy from the internet rather than using our own cognitive abilities. Even God can no longer shape young people's futures because of the negative things that social media has ingrained in their minds.

Let's go back in time to the early 2000s. You and your father are going grocery shopping on a Sunday morning when you run into a friend from school. After shopping, you guys seek to spend time playing a game of cricket. Without any scholastic pressure and the strain of upholding a position in front of society, you spent half of the day playing. On the other hand, in contrast, if we talk about young people nowadays, especially teens, they don't want to go shopping or play outdoor activities. They will open their playstations and continue playing there, despite being advised to play physical games.

Instead of meeting up with their friends in person, they choose to text often. Every time they go out, they feel pulled in to update their status online and let everyone know where they are going, what they are eating, and what they did. Youth have developed symptoms including glossophobia and insomnia as a result of late-night messaging and reel-scrolling.

With the assistance of social media, young people appear to be forgetting the importance of personal connections. Late replies and lack of communication account for half of the server. People used to wait months or even years to meet their family and friends back when social media wasn't as common. Despite this, the relationship didn't change. Mankind valued relationships then. The understanding of youth has decreased, and sometimes even disrespects their elders to look 'cool'. Social media has forced the youth to present themselves, to be the best version of themselves, even if that means faking the truth. The sentiments are made more grave by the fact that so many people offer the most desirable versions of themselves online. We frequently share the finest parts of our lives and our greatest triumphs, but we seldom discuss our setbacks, failures, and disappointments. Social media is an exceptional tool that enables us to remain in contact with all of our friends, connect with individuals who are difficult to reach in the real world and make our voices heard. However, social media is a double-edged sword. According to studies, the frequent use of social media and the need to reply to texts, emails, and phone calls right away are linked to high levels of stress and anxiety. Scams and fictitious accounts pose a significant risk to your privacy since they frequently leak your data.

Long-term usage of social media can lead to addiction in young people. Addiction makes it difficult to concentrate on other crucial tasks, such as studying. Youths experience significant hormonal changes that predispose them to being addicted to newly emerging technologies.

When people are overly preoccupied, they become isolated from society and endanger their personal lives. Therefore, it is crucial to know that despite being a blessing, social media is a curse for people, especially the youth, the future of our nation.
