Over a period of time, education has taken a drastic change and has evolved for the betterment of the next generation. The books, concepts, ideas, teaching system, and much more, every single segment has revolutionized, along with their pros and cons.
Conceptualizing study is a boon to the current generation, improvement in gaining knowledge and upgrading learning skills, has proved to be beneficial for children.
An idea or thought behind any theorem is of utmost importance, along with its practical knowledge. Learning developed through this concept is far better than mugging up the words. These conceptual skills should be practiced in teaching as well as learning.
But as a parent, have we evolved ourselves with the conceptual mechanism? Have we taken any steps to practice it? or are we still running behind the grades and marks of the child? These questions have no firm answers.
Let's start from the beginning, we have hundreds of questions before our child is admitted to a school. How is the school, reviews, teaching patterns, study methodology, skill development practice, and much more?
After deep thought and discussions, we parents finally decided to enroll our child in the desired school. By this time, parents have gained all the knowledge of the education system and patterns, but what next?
It's time to understand the concept of report card. Report cards are made to show the overall skill of the child and knowledge. But as parents, our focus is always on the marks and grades. Less score in the marksheet of a child overshadows his overall skills and qualities.
The child might have immense knowledge of the subject, but he/she did not score well. Why? How? What happened? Many questions and many answers, the child was not well, had spelling issues, writing problems, no time management etc. Scolding the child, blaming others, creating a chaotic situation, only because the child scored less.
Ask yourself, Was this behavior fruitful? What did we as parents gain out of it? What will the child learn from this?
To get things streamlined, let us come back to our conceptualization process. Education is meant to improve the learning and understanding of the children so that they have practical knowledge of the theory.
As a parent, We have evolved ourselves with the schooling system, but what about implementing the same in the entire learning process? Firstly, inculcate the conceptualization mechanism in ourselves.
Has your child actually understood the idea or logic? Does he understand the subject or just a part of it? Which are his/her topics of interest? Don't look at the individual subject as a whole, understand the child's interest in a particular topic.
Once you get solutions for these questions, it's time to evolve further to the application mechanism, which means applying the pinch of these selected interests in the learning process.
For example, if the child is good with numbers, then strategizing his/her learning pattern with numbers, will make it interesting for the child to grasp faster. Use your creativity and inculcate this pattern in all subjects. It will give him an overall boost and an amicable learning experience.
We all know that everybody cannot come first, second, or third, but implementing the facts is equally important. Focus on the overall learning and development of the child, rather than the scorecard.
The child may not have come first in the class, but they have strived to finish the race, understood the concept, learned from the experience, and have developed a thrive to become better. Healthy
Competition is good, but competing with ourselves is the best learning booster.
Working on your skills, improving yourself, and timely upgrading your expertise is the best learning experience.
