Each letter forms a word
Each word is a seed
Growing till it’s heard
Beyond all the larger trees

Words form sentences and paragraphs
The sapling grows stronger
The trunk thick as a staff
The story gets longer

Soon it can hold its own
A new world brought to life
The tree beckons to the unknown
To tales of love and strife

For in the forest of trees and books and stories
Each letter has a life and each character their glories
Worlds are formed and lessons learnt
Each word has a place and none are spurned

Each sentence takes on a mystical form
Creates a play none could hope to perform
Each page is precious like the leaves of a tree
Once the book is bound, imaginations run free

But in a myriad of legends and myths and tales
There remains one story that never pales
The story of the letters which grew like seeds
The one where books began to breathe...
