Hello friends, I am back with my new blog “Why”. Oh!! You must be wondering, what is this topic all about - ‘Why’ and why have I chosen this topic for my blog. The reason is when your WHY is clear then formulating the strategy for achieving your goal will be easier. If we read the dictionary definition of the word WHY it means “for what reason or purpose”. In my context of writing, why is not a question rather, it is an answer to all your problems and confusion.
Dear readers, if I ask you to perform a task and I don’t give any reward for that task, would you be interested in even listening to the task? No! We all know that humans are designed to be selfish in some way or the other. It’s a tendency that a human to pay heed to any work only if he is given assurance for a bounty in return. Therefore, it is very important to know the reward before stepping ahead for a toil.
A very interesting quote mentioned above is “When the Why is clear, the How is easy”. This quote says that finding out the WHY i.e. the object or the end result is the first step for any person to complete a task. It is the “WHY” which helps us to grind towards our goals.
Let’s see the journey from WHY to HOW through this small instance.
Once upon a time, there was a shady village. All men were dull and lethargic. There was no ray of enthusiasm, no hope. Sleeping used to be the favorite pastime of the natives to the village. This attitude created a pessimism in the hearts of women and the king of the village. A worry was created that this frame of mind might ruin the village. Women along with the king tried hard to make the lazy men understand their attitude towards life is going to devastate everyone’s future. All efforts went in vain because men ignored all their words.
One fine day, a saint visited the village. The king welcomed the saint and paid obeisance to him. The saint could see despair in the king’s eyes. When asked the reason for his despair, King replied that the village and the economy of the area are in a negative situation because the male members of this village have turned indolent and dull. All ways of motivation and encouragement from my side have failed to make them work. The saint smiled and advised the king to make them realise that 'WHY' work has to be done and HOW the work has to be done. King agreed to the saint and to achieve this, they organized a competition and declared a reward. Next day entire community gathered to see the competition. The king announced and declared what is the competition about. Two houses of the same height were selected and the person who walked from one roof to another roof will be awarded a huge reward but the twist was that the doors of both the houses would be locked and no one would be allowed to use the stairs of the houses to reach the roof. Only the use of ropes was allowed to complete the task. King being the leader had to keep the stick to maintain the balance of the person walking on the rope but didn’t disclose this to anybody. After listening to the rules of the competition, people cursed him and were scared of death if they participated in the competition.
There was only one man, “Denver” who was very well trained to walk on the rope but still, he refused to walk on the ropes due to his lazy nature. Nobody took interest and were returning back home. Suddenly, all heard the sound of a small girl screaming in pain. Everyone stopped and saw that one of the houses caught fire and the small girl was crying on the roof, requesting the villagers to save her. Denver, the master of this art was stunned to see that the girl was his daughter. He requested the king to provide him the keys but apparently, the keys were misplaced somewhere. The father decided to walk on the rope to save her daughter. He knew that walking on rope without the stick wasn’t an easy thing, but when he reached on the top of another house, he could find the stick there on the roof and he used it as a support to balance on the rope. And to everyone’s surprise, he could save her daughter and also, won the competition. Then, Denver was questioned that 'why' didn’t he participate when the competition was announced and why ecstatically he participated when he heard his daughter screaming. He replied that I was very clear that I had to save my daughter, and the reward which was offered me earlier didn’t give me that reason to take the risk of walking on the rope. My daughter’s safety and life were the only reason that I crossed the rope from one building to another.
Now, The Saint smiled and explained to everyone that everything is easy and sustainable if your why is clear.
If your WHY is clear that why you have to achieve something then you search for “HOW” to achieve the “WHY”. There should be a reason to pursue this life and how to pursue this life totally depends on you. Either you can waste it or you can taste it.
This instance has been narrated to gather all your attention towards WHY. The WHY for Denver is to protect the life of his daughter even if he is not getting a single penny for saving her life and HOW is the stick which he uses to fulfil his wish. This blog is also a realization that God has blessed each of us with various skills but he has left on us to identify that one skill which can differentiate us from the crowd. If you are able to identify the “WHY” and ascertain the goal which needs to be fulfilled at any cost then no hurdle in this world will be able to push you back from the achieving your desire. Find out the WHY, the universe will directly or indirectly give you the direction towards the HOW.
“If your WHY is clear,
you will be able to see the HOW, and
when you are able to see the HOW, then CONGRATULATIONS
success is surely near to you”
