Turn up the lights,
Turn up security.
Strip women of their rights
In the name of safety.

Lay down new laws
On your bed made of lies.
Turn down the protests.
Of women on the rise.

The red building is whitewashed with promises
Oceans deep, but hollow as the hallows preach.
A crimson river flows through the valley between justice and tyranny,
Drowning out cries for help just to keep the peace.

Best believe our institution's bejeweled,
Even though we can't walk out of our rooms
Because we blame the victim instead of addressing the problem
And let the men walk free towards our doom.

We can't change how the world works unless we start here.
You can't impose punishments on those who did nothing wrong.
Don't keep us in the dark, for in these crucial hours,
We will stand with the victim, and help her stay strong.

You can close our curtains, but we can still see
The power you misuse to keep the scandal contained.
The sun will shine on you tomorrow, whether or not you do what's right.
But until then, we'll keep up this fight while you keep your good name.

So turn up the lights,
And turn up your security.
But place the blame where it belongs,
And take responsibility.

-A show of support to the victim of the Anna University rape case in the face of institutional neglect.
