Spate of insurgencies in the Kashmir Valley is again a concern for all Indians. When from the last seven to ten years the military actions along with the political will of the government were able to bring down the militant activities to a distinct number then the increase of recent attacks on militaries in Jammu causing the death of our jawans raised many questions about the effectivity of military planning.
In recent times, observing the militant's success in organising their waylaid attack near the international border made all of us surprised. The reason, after analysing the incidents, can be attributed to poor military planning. Our security systems are now more dependent on the technology than the human potency and thus the human intelligence is becoming rusty and this rustic laziness and laxity of our security system are being well exploited by the trained militants, causing harm to our nation's heroes.
The other reason is that, seeing the normalcy, a huge number of jawans and security personnel have been withdrawn from Jammu's mainland and they have been deployed at LAC, thus the density of security force has been thin in the mainland and the expert militants are easily taking the advantage of this less military forces and getting mingled with the common citizen.
The reason for this kind of redeployment is that our government most probably thought that crossborder support from Pakistan now not possible because of that country's insolvency and political instability but making all of us wrong, the militants are successful in crossing the border and organising an attack on our brave jawans.
Though our well-disciplined militaries foiled their all attacks, time and again, laying their lives, even the questions are raising that why and how those infiltrators could come across and how could they mingle with the local citizens. What our Intelligence are doing? Why the people of the valley are entertaining them? How can they reach in disguise to the position of fighting? Why did our Intelligence fail to collect the information before the ambush?
The third one is the wobbling of the common man's confidence to the Government of India for delay in returning statehood to the valley which was stripped for the effective management of military forces in the valley. When after the improvement of law and order also, the statehood was not returned then the citizens felt annoyed, and disgusted because many developments in the state were being hampered for not having a State Government.
The fourth one is the abrogation of Article 370. Though, abrogation is a positive move to imbibe the 'Nationality' feeling in the citizens even a section of people feel hurt, as nobody, according to human psychology, is ready to leave the facility that were enjoying. The government, so far, has failed to bring those disgruntled to the confidence and these enraged people are extending support to militancy.
The fifth one and the most important one is that The Intelligence Department is failing to collect the information about the ambush which is definitely a major concern for the nation.
Now, the Government of India needs to think in a deeper way to maintain the achieved improvement as well as to bring down the terrorist activities to nil in the land.
For this, the government should do the following few things:
The modern technology is a boon to the army but these technologies can only then be effective when the human intelligence works properly. So, now is the time, for the Intelligence Department to make strong and effective policy, and planning to be adopted for deployment of military forces. The local administrator should work for development in tandem with the military activities. The people should be taken into confidence so that they do not feel alienated. The militant will never get success if they do not get shelter in the common man's house, so, it is the primary duty of our government to take people in confidence.
