Varun and Praveen are very different personalities and interests and you can find out how they became best friends.

Guess what Varun's mother said a week after they had moved into their new house I have discovered that one of my old friends lives nearby Anderson is your classmate at school his name is Praveen she added do you know him Varun shook his head Praveen that boy is not good at games or anything it keeps reading some of the old books all the time. varun was the skipper of the school cricket team and was good at football hockey, and gymnastics as well. we have invited his parents to teach this evening of course you will come to said his mother. when Praveen’s family came Varun took Praveen to his room while their parents talked in the drawing room the 2 boys did not have much to say to each other. varun knew Praveen was not good at games and he did not bother to find out Praveen interests so both were quite glad when Praveen got up to go home their mothers visited each other often Varun and Praveen never did. they just did not have anything in common.

One day while playing football Varun fell and fractured his leg this means that he had to miss school for about 6 weeks lying in bed Varun felt very lonely and sorry for himself during the first week.his friends came over every evening to cheer him up but as the date of the cricket match approached they had less and less time to spare from their practice one evening Varun’s friends visited him full of excitement about the coming match one of them had been selected the skipper I n Varun’s place. what a shame you can’t play they said we are really going to miss you.

varun smiled bravely never mind what he said. When his friends had gone Varun tried to fight back his tears. he had never felt more disappointed and lonely. Suddenly his mother came into the room a visitor for you Varun she said it was Praveen he came forward shyly and sat down on a chair near Varun's bed.

“I've brought you a book to read he said you must be getting bored lying in bed. Varun picked up the book without much interest he did not feel like reading however the cover caught his eye.

It Was the picture of a beautiful Snow White cheetah called Pippa he opened the book it was full of photographs of Pippa and her Cubs.

the little ones were shown climbing trees and playing even enjoying a cold drink out of a bottle with a straw it’s a good book Praveen said I think you would like it he then got up to go don’t go so soon said Varun tell me about the book. Praveen sat down again he told Varun the story of Pippa from the time she was a cub till she had little cups for her own. When Pippa was only a few weeks old she was presented to a couple called George and Joy Adamson.

Who were there varun asked George Adamson was the keeper of a game sanctuary in Africa. Praveen told him the Adamsons brought up Pippa and it is a joy Adamson who has written the book about her. It must be fantastic to have a cheetah for a pet exclaimed Varun they had a lioness too as a pet she said Praveen really asked Varun and Praveen nodded. her name was Elsa Joy Adamson wrote a book about her. it's called Bond Free it became a best seller you know and it was even made into a film.

Varun was Fascinated when Varun’s mother peeped into the room and an hour later she found the 2 boys deep in conversation she was very happy you must come more than often Praveen she said varun gets very lonely by himself.

Praveen came by the next evening and the next Soon began to drop every evening and Varun started looking forward to his visits.

Praveen was very interested in zoology and wildlife I visited the zoo every weekend to watch the animals Varun was also amazed to discover that Praveen has quite a collection of animals at home... 2 cats, 2 dogs, a baby, a well and a baby monkey.

One evening Praveen brought the monkey with him to Varun's house his mother got the shock of her life when the monkeys suddenly jumped out at her from behind the curtain and started chattering the boys had a good laugh.

6 weeks passed quickly and almost before I knew it Varun was out of bed and almost before he knew it.

when Varun walked into class the next day his cricket teammates let out shouts of joy you are back Hurray.

As Varun's teammates crowded around him I quickly greeted them with a smile then he pushed through them and walked straight towards them. Praveen overs quietly reading a book in a corner.

Varun sat down next to him and both boys were soon lost in conversation during cricket practice Varun's teammates asked how could you be friends with a boy who plays no sport... Varun smiled and replied you can be friends with everyone you just need to take time.
