Before diving into the 2000s, Let's have a look at the history of Bollywood. Being an ardent observer of Bollywood, I noticed every tiny detail of Bollywood.

Bollywood, the Mumbai-based film Industry, is known for its worldwide market and also the hub of many people as Bollywood hires so many people in their films. The first film " RAJA HARISH CHANDRA" directed by Dadasaheb Phalke. This created a milestone in the chapter of Cinema. Then in.1931 first sound film Alam Ara came which fuelled the journey of Cinema as well. Then during the 1940s-1960s, the Golden period of Hindi Cinema came with films like Mother India, Mughale-Azam, Kaagaz Ke Phool and the list goes on. These films are still cited as one of the most critically acclaimed films of all time. Also, actors like Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, and Raj Kapoor dominated at that time. Also, they are still considered as Legends for their unique acting styling and the art of portraying scenes on screen with so much diligence.

Then the decade of the 1980s came when commercial cinemas started thriving with the touch of the talented duo Salim-Javed. Films like Sholay, and Yaadon Ki Baaraat which are termed Masala films.

Especially the depiction of the ANGRY YOUNG MAN "Amitabh Bachchan" became so popular among people and this was what consolidated the star image him.But during the late 80s when films became very violent, audiences started refusing Hindi cinema, then a purely romantic story Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak(1988) was released at that time which brought audiences to the cinema back

From then the era of Romantic films started.

During the 90s all the Khans came..the biggest superstars of the country.

Though initially Shah Rukh was portrayed as an Anti-hero with films like Daar, Bazigarh

Post DDLJ he become the romance king of Hindi Cinema with films like kuch kuch hota hai, Yes Boss, Dil Toh Pagal hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Also during the 90s Salman Khan, and Amir Khan became superstars of Hindi Cinema. Though Shah Rukh held the top position.

Then my all-time favourite the era of 2009s came the 2000s time means the period of 2000 to 2009.

It was the year 2000 when most of the films turned out to be romantic. Especially two major Productions houses Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films used to dominate the entire film industry. In 2000 the musical romantic film Mohambatein came in starring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai with newcomers like Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Jugal Hansraj, Kim Sharma, Jimmy Sheirgill and Preeti Jhangiani. This movie became a huge blockbuster of that year with critical acclaim. Also, the 2000s decade has always been special because of its extra ordinary music. Mohabbateij music was given by the famous duo Jatin Lalit who continued till 2006. At that time love stories used to work extremely well in the Box Office, unlike today's time. It's said to be inspired by Dead Poets Society. This year's others highest-grossing films include Refugee, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, and Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega. The film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai also a love story, starred by two new comers of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel, excelled at the box office. Hrithik's impeccable charm and the talent of dancing mesmerised the audience. The music of this film worked quite well ane became popular among the youth. Also the film Refugee marked debut of Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan.

Then again in the year 2001, Shah Rukh's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham became the highest-grossing film of that year starring along with Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerjee was also there for a cameo role. Also the music was given by Jatin-Lalit. It became a huge hit internationally as well. Other highest grosser included Gadar-ek Prem Katha, Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai. Lagaan, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, became a milestone in the history of India as despite clashing with Gadar, it managed to earn good numbers as well as getting huge critical acclaim. It was the third and last Indian film as of 2023, to be nominated for Academy Award For Best Foreign Language Film. Starrig Amir Khan, Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorn,it was a landmark in the history of Landmark. The A.R.RAHMAN music was also a plus point to the film. Dil Chahata Hai was also a Coming Of Age film directed by Farhan Akhtar introduced the era of Coling Of Age film of India because this coming of age films are basically based in Urban Centric areas. Dil Chahata hai also became a huge hit which starred Amir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Preity Zinda, Akshay Khanna, Sonali Kulkarni.

Then again in 2002 Shah Rukh Khan's Devdas came which also became a huge hit and the top highest-grossing film of that time.Devadas was also starred by Aishwarya Rai,Madhuri Dixit.Along with the songs, the mode of story Stelling, performances by all the three leads were truly appreciated by all. Films like Sathiyaa, Dil Hai Tumhara, Raaz worked well at that time. Films like Mujhse Dosti Karoge also worked well.

In 2003 highest grosser was Shah Rukh's Kal Ho Na Ho. In the same year Raju Hirani's film Munna Bhai MBBS came which set next benchmark as it was a film which was a social drama but had funny elements with fantastic songs. In that year the film called Isq Visq came which introduced two new comers namely Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. Despite being a film with new comers it works well.

During the 2000s, KOFFEE WITH KARAN, a celebrity talk show which was all about celebrities life style started airing on Star Plus and become a favourite show of the public. The show was hosted by Karan Johar, the head of Dharma Productions.

In 2004 films the former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra debuted through Mujhse Shadi Karogi. This film worked pretty well at the box office. Also Veer zaara came at that time which thrived at the box office totally.

In 2005 No entry, Bunty Aur Babli, and Dhoom were among the top grossers.

In 2006 there were films like Vivah, Chup Chup ke, Dhoom 2, Krish, Don, Kabhi alvida na kehna, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai won at the box office.

The year 2007 saw newcomers like Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.T he Snajay Leela Bhansali directorial Saawraiya and the Farah Khan directorial Om Shanti Om(Lead role Deepika and Shah Rukh) clashed together where Saawariya failed miserably but Om Shanti Om became a blockbuster. Jab We Met also released during the year 2007 and it's the film which has got cult status over the years. Chak De India also got released at that time where Khan got huge critical acclaim. Anurag Basu's directorial LIFE IN A METRO also came out, and Priyadarshan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa was also released at that time.

In 2008 Bollywood actress Anushka Shrama debuted with Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which was a huge success. Besides this Amir Khan's Ghajini came which became the top highest-grosser film of that year. Also Race,Jodha Akbar,Dostana,Golmaal Returns were one of the top grosseres of 2008.In the same year, Bollywood actor Imraan debuted through Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na along with another new comer Genelia D'Souza.

Then the last year of that decade came which was 2009.In this year 2009 the highest-grosser was 3 idiots which starred Amir Khan, R.Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, and Boman Irani. It was directed by R.K.Hirani.It was about the education system of India and the friendship among the three which included the ups and downs of life as well.It was a film which almost everybody loved even today. Also the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial Kaminey was released at that time.In Kaminey, Shahid Kapoor portrayed the role of twin brothers who got entangled with each other's life regarding socio-political matters. Besides this films like Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahani, Wake Up Sid, Love Aj Kaal, New York, De Dana Dan was one of the top grossers. Salman Khan's Wanted tremendously worked at the box office of that time.

Why is the 2000s so special?

I personally feel the decade 2000s so special as at that time so many beautiful songs used to come. At that time the top singers were Atif Aslam, KK, Mohit Chauhan, Shaan, Mustafa Zahid, Kunal Ganjawala, Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder Singh, Javed Ali, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal.

The decade started with the music composition by JATIN-LALIT, then it was dared to be dominated by the trio SHANKAR-EHSAAN-LOY.Just during or after them music director Pritam came with this Dhoom Album. This Dhoom Album became a huge chartbuster. This was followed by Chocolate, Garam Masala, Gangster, Woh Lamhe, Dhoom 2, Life in a Metro, Awarapan, Jab We Met and the list goes on.

At that time people used to watch all of these songs on TV unlike today's time when it's all about the reels.

During this time Emraan Hashmi came to prominence. Even if his films didn't work well the songs of his movies worked really well among the audiences. Vishesh films used to produce these films... Tum Mile, Murder, Awarapan, Gangster, and Jannat were among the films of Hashmi.

During the time of 2000s Katrina Kaif came with a low-budget film Boom(2003), established herself through the film like Namaste London,Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya,Ajab Prem Ki Gazab kahani,New York,Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and all and become a household name.

This decade noticed the debut of some of most talented directors like Vishal Bhardwaj, Imtiaz Ali, Zoya Akhtar etc.

At that time Imraan Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were thought to be the next superstars. But Imran Khan later vanished due to his back-to-back failures.Though both Kapoor and Khan had a good time during the late 2000s.The time of Preity Zinda and Rani Mukerjee quite faded with the emergence of actresses like Priyanka, Deepika, Anushka, and Katrina. Kareena continued doing films.Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, and Yash Chopra were the most successful men of that time. Also, Shah Rukh had the greatest time during the 2000s.

So that's it I felt about 2000s.
