In a world in which people are always demanding something. It is very difficult to fulfil all the demands. That’s when technology comes into play. But everything which is man-made in this world has different versions. It means every new version is better than the older one. For example, internet technology has 2G, 3G and 4G. In the same way, even the internet has different versions like Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and so on. But the difference here is that in the case of the internet the different versions which are there, are simple concepts.

Web 2.0 has been the real revolution in the entire world. There has been a drastic change in the manner in which people use the internet. There have been various expectations of people from the internet that has been made possible by the web. But now we all are staring at a new revolution called Web 3.0.

Web 3.0 is basically based upon three important factors – artificial intelligence, decentralised data networks, and edge computing. All of these are the later part of a technological turnaround. They are notably based on Web 2.0 and its three important factors - social media, mobile phones and the cloud.

It will basically run on blockchain technology. The users will have the opportunity to gain ownership over applications and data. The term Web 3.0 was coined by Gavin Wood in 2014. He is the founder of a blockchain technology company called Ethereum.

After 2007, the immediate onset of the iPhone raised the curiosity of the people in terms of the newer devices or future devices. All the upcoming devices after that tried to address the dreams of people. Interactive devices in various forms then started to invade the markets in every country. Now the question arises that what would be the features of the new technology in the coming years.

Now if we consider computing, then it is rapidly happening now. Previously, in Web 2.0 data centres and servers were being deployed everywhere around the world. But now the responsibility is being distributed. For example, we do have more powerful devices now in our hands. Along with that, there is also better internet technology present around us. There is even better or faster storage technology in our devices. So indirectly the pressure to perform is decreasing on the data centres and their servers. Secondly now we also have various data centres around the world in many countries. So, it is easier now to access those cloud storage.

Artificial Intelligence is a new force. It has changed our lives drastically. Everything present around us today has the capability to connect to the internet. They can even take our commands and obey our orders. The manual involvement has decreased in terms of executing any task.

Decentralization is also making the jump. Now data is an important part of all our lives. It is being controlled by many. We are handing over our data to the big names of the internet world. That data is now being used to predict our behaviours and actions in the virtual world.

Now, we have various advancements which can further our progress. First of all, people are now doing every activity related to their lives online. This means that the factor of trust without knowing a person individually is increasing. The various websites are also having the functionality of bots or AI. Various businesses are online-based. In the near future, even more, businesses can rely on virtual world infrastructure.

The reliability of the websites like Walmart and Instagram has increased drastically. This is because indirectly the level of security has increased. This is true in terms of the data being generated online for every transaction. Physical things in our life like money are also being replaced by bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

The one big advantage of Web 3.0 will be the control we will have over our data. There will also be transparency and security. All of these will happen gradually. There will also be sharing and exchange of data without much risk.

But there are also some demerits. The first one is that it is difficult to regulate. In connection to that, there is also an issue. The problem is that the issues of cybercrime like cyberbullying, harassment, etc will also be difficult to control. There are some thoughts among the people. The fact is that the big companies have control today over the huge amount of data. The data which they have accumulated until now. So, there is speculation that indirectly they have some control over Web 3.0.

Another advantage of having Web 3.0 is that it will help in providing a better search experience. It is because we all are using voice commands on our devices.

With Web 3.0 we will also have much better apps in the future. As more and more demands are being made for more polished applications, then the data which has been collected for quite some time helps in meeting such demands.

Previously, Tim Berners-Lee did predict Web 3.0 as a semantic web. He proposed that it would be an extension of the internet existing at that time.

Now, it is up to us how we want to exploit the newer technologies or concepts. But Web 3.0 is still in the very initial stages. So, it is difficult to say whether it will be successful or not. The future will be exciting because of such innovations. It will make our lives safer in terms of exposure to technology. The uncertainty and confusion are also very attractive in such cases. We will have to wait and watch for the results of such changes. The mere thought of such evolutions can also initiate some other changes. The resulting outcomes of the new changes can further increase the pace of human development. This development can be in terms of many things like education, healthcare, and many more.

So it is very difficult to predict the outcome of such changes. But we can hope for the best.
