Many scientists have been researching Life, Evolution, and other Sciences. There has been a debate between science and mythological & folk literature about evolution and how the world came into existence. Many talks about 'Time', while others talk about 'Energy and Vibrations' while some talk about 'Actions and Karma'. Have you ever thought about it? Have you ever wondered what this world is actually about? Well, I have given it a thought and to speak for myself I believe that this world is not a 'Reality' but a 'Perception'. Yes, you heard me right!
Read it on to know more about why I say this.....
Everything that happens in one's life happens because of how one perceives it. Let us consider that life ran on some model step of instructions, and then the results would have been the same for each one of us, but that is not the case. One and the same activity paves different paths thus leading to different outcomes for every individual. How one perceives things, will lead to one's life journey bringing different destinations for each one of us.
Well, Perception means a particular way of looking at or understanding things. Further, it can be explained as how your brain receives, selects, processes, and interprets the information and data around you, fetched with the help of your senses. In short, it means how an individual recognizes and interprets sensory information.
'Perception is Reality' means how your brain interprets the information that it has received throughout your life experiences and the way you understand and make sense of it. In short, whatever one sees or feels to be valid - regardless of whether it is or not - is their truth.
Feeling is an experience whereas Perception helps us interpret those experiences.
Let us understand through a couple of examples about how our perception is our reality, which is influenced by our individual experiences, political opinions, beliefs and other biases.
Everyone has their share of experiences, their life journey, their challenges, and lessons which are different altogether from every other individual. Every individual may feel differently about the same thing, for the same shared experience. For example, different people sitting on a roller coaster may feel differently. Some might feel happy while others might feel very anxious, while some may even feel scared. Though it was the same activity of sitting on the ride, every individual had their own perception of the said experience. Is the ride really scary? Is it actually about the ride? NO.
It is about how your brain perceives it. For those who felt happy, their brain perceived the ride as an activity that releases dopamine which is a happy hormone, that makes the person feel happy every time he sits on a roller coaster ride. So for this individual, his brain sets a Perception of happiness towards such rides and will look forward to such events.
Whereas for those who felt anxious, scared, and frightened, their brain perceived this roller coaster ride as a dangerous activity, triggering them to believe that it might lead to their death or if the ride falls abruptly, it may harm them further leading to their death. A few may also have a fear of heights so when the roller coaster reaches a certain height, those individuals may panic too.
All these are due to their brain perceiving it as a dangerous activity, hence, the next time these people hear about such roller coaster rides, their reply will always be a 'No' to such experiences.
Thus, I hereby prove my point that nothing is real and the same for all but it is all about one's Perception.
I can also prove this by giving another example:
When in a job, if a person cannot deliver his best at a given presentation or project and his seniors or colleagues criticize or comment on it, then that individual can take it either in a positive way or a negative way.
The one who takes it negatively perceives it as a failure of himself. Thereafter, in every project/assignment, he will never be confident to give his best. He will always feel that he is not good enough or that he cannot take such responsibility and every time he will be given a task, he will turn down opportunities for the fear of failure and criticism, thereby getting stuck in life and not moving further, be it professionally or socially.
While, on the other hand, the individual who takes such criticism as a lesson and learns from his mistake, that failure and criticism turn out to be a stepping stone for him, and in the future he feels confident to take more responsibility. That moment of failure taught him to improvise further, how not to not the same mistake, and build his confidence for further opportunities and do better at it, further enabling opportunities for appraisal and promotion as well.
This is called Self Perception, where that individual has his view and opinion about himself called self-concept (the image of himself that he has in his head), his own characteristics and the judgement that he makes about himself based on the traits he possess, defining his self-esteem.
In my opinion, I would say yes, it is important. Because it is through perception only that we become more aware of and respond better to our environment. Also, it is not that the person can never change their perception. One can change his perception by changing the way he looks at things, the way he chooses to respond or react to situations, and what information he exposes himself to. You can change your perception by becoming aware of your current state of perception, choosing to actively bring changes in it, deciding to look at things and the world from a different angle, which will in turn bring a change to your reality.
Perception is like a mirror, through which we view people, events and things. What information your brain has acquired through your life experiences, gets stored in your memory and next time when such similar experience comes forth, this memory will look back to that information and it will be surfaced, thereby reflecting the same feeling/expression that you felt in the previous activity.
We believe our perception to be accurate, and we create our realities based on those perceptions although our perceptions feel very real, it does not mean that they are factual.
So, here I rest my case, that life is nothing but a Perception of how you perceive it, which differs from person to person and is not the same for everyone. What might seem insignificant to one may hold paramount importance to the other.
