I waited in my favourite cafe as I looked at my watch incessantly with a restless stare
The book turned to page 30 as I gave the barista a scornful glare
My iced Caramel latte was thirty minutes late and had extra sugar in it as I sipped its essence.
The realms of time danced with its rhythm as the atrocities of the noon didn't make any sense
The waiter took my drink and apologies as I saw she had arrived
With a smile and Sorry, I am late, she said as she walked in her slow stride
I asked her where she was, and she said she was completing her assignment for school
I asked her how her day was, and she smiled and said Everyone thinks I am a fool.
She looked at the laptop, wondering what I beckoned to do
I told her with pride that I weave dreams with my pen, ones that fascinate you.
Are you a writer? She asked me with a blissful smile
I said yes, our words finally find themselves to be worthwhile
In the hours of slumber when you yearned to be seen
Your hope fostered the courage in me to be fearless in the pursuit of my dreams
She had tears in her eyes as she looked at me
I told her we make it onto the other end of the dark side, where we dive deeper into the ends of poetry
Longingly looking at me, she asks me, Are you truly happy with an earnest sigh
I smile, saying I am working on it, as I couldn't lie
We look at each other as a beautiful woman walks in
She walks with grace and embraces us in a hug, our hearts melting within
Sitting by our side, she caresses the teenage girl and holds my hand
Telling both of us with a smile, '' We make it out of the dark sands.
Her voice calm, her eyes filled with not rage but pride
She tells me I am the future of you two girls that with me sit beside
I live in the light of my independence and love with my heart
I have finally healed the scars because you two didn't give up, ones that tried to tear us apart.
The coffee is on me, she says as the teenage girl has her chocolate milkshake, and I finally get my iced latte served
She tells us to enjoy where we are while life hands us what we deserve
To hold our feet to where we are now, let's sip our coffee before it turns cold
Let's take it one day at a time, while we write our stories with love, with the pen that we behold
