Thou who always slip away
Were you there for even a second? To compare if I may,
Are you sand or water? I really can’t say,
But right in between those faint fingers,
Just before a thought could linger,
Thou have slipped away ;
To a place that I cannot revisit,
A fact made quite brutally explicit,
To a veiled place where my solitary past stays-
A world filled with nothing but dryness and dismay;
Nay, a space where my memories also soar,
Hoping to grasp just a moment more,
Only for time to stride out the door.
Time, oh, time, you incessant mime-
Even before I can gather my mind, you,
As though sprinting to save a life, have gone o'er.
And once again, thou have slipped away.
