Tourism is one of the widely discussed topics nowadays. It is a favourite subject on which people like to gossip and even read about diligently in newspapers, magazines, websites or social media. Moreover, travel videos, be it in the form of YouTube vlogs or TV shows, always have a good number of viewers. Why is travel a most juicy topic that never loses its charm? It is because the thirst of learning or getting a visual snapshot of destinations unknown to us fascinates our mind so much, that for a moment, stress melts away, and we experience utmost pleasure. The thirst of exploring something new, or the wanderlust as it is called, often makes us plan our wishes of jetting off to some faraway location for days on end either solely or with our loved ones which includes our friends and family. From planning our ways of traveling as per our budget to booking flight or train tickets some months in advance, a series of managerial steps or tasks goes into the making of formulating a trip. There are also hotel bookings and a search on destinations to be visited that also never go ignored while planning for a trip. However, travel has today been classified into many types, and there are some forms of traveling which has seen a massive boost and are also bringing in huge profits for the tourism industry.

Religious/Spiritual Tourism

This is one of the types of tourism which has been popular from time immemorial. It is quite true that people plan to visit specific religious destinations to enhance their mental well-being. While some might hard to believe that religious tourism is no longer that relevant in the mid-2020s, the truth is that people, irrespective of their ages, are flying away to remote spiritual destinations tucked amidst pristine greenery to refresh themselves with new vigour. A break from the mundane worldly life and seeking a peaceful transition from the everyday chaos paves the way for getting to enjoy an enriching spiritual experience. Besides praying to God, people fly away to sites of religious importance for getting inner peace and positive vibes which ultimately makes us feel that our souls have been nourished literally. Be it the melodious yet powerful chants, the fragrant smell of incense and clarified butter-filled lamps burning brightly or the elaborate rituals which are soul-stirring, a visit to a religious destination satiates us beyond measure which is indescribable in words and makes us experience happiness which can be defined as pure bliss. Meanwhile, the architecture of religious sites is so beautiful that it often leaves us gasping in astonishment. The beautiful designs literally tell stories of expert craftsmanship skills and vast knowledge, along with the hidden talents of the artists behind its construction. Many places of religious importance are located in breathtaking places rich in the beauty of the sights and sounds of Mother Nature. So, visiting religious places often opens up jaw dropping vistas for us to admire hand in hand with the purpose of fulfilling our spiritual goals. There is also another practice of going to enjoy exclusive spiritual experiences like doing a specific ritual on the scheduled date and time and also the habit of taking a bath in a sacred place as it gives us the hope that doing so can have immense benefits for us. Religious or spiritual tourism mostly centers on faith. One cannot ever rule out that faith is a powerful factor which has made religious tourism a phenomena in itself.

Adventure Tourism

People think of taking on the role of tourists simply to spice up their boring daily lives with an occasional ingredient of highly thrilling adventure. After all, exploring a totally unknown place is in itself a big kind of adventure as it opens up unknown breathtaking scenery before our very eyes and piques our curiosity further about the hidden wonders of the world. The adventure called tourism often makes us marvel at the beauty of the world around us. Although getting to watch new things as tourists is very exciting, the people of this tech-savvy world is always on the lookout for newfound experiences which can pump up adrenaline. Let's say, for example, while going to watch the view of a mesmerizing lake, people won't just satiate their wanderlust there by simply staring at the calm beauty of the waters. A boating trip across it is a must to call the trip a memorable one. Similarly, while going on a trip amidst the pristine jungles, most people today opt for elephant safaris. Hiking, trekking, zip lining, rock climbing, etc, have today become a separate class of tourism in itself, and people often fly away to specific destinations to experience it. Beaches have now emerged as hotspots of thrilling water sports. People don't get satisfied by just staring out at sea and indulging in activities that make them get the ecstatic feeling of flowing with the waves. Moreover, people also satiate their curiosity of the sea by going on a deep dive underneath it and getting a glimpse of the marvellous aquatic world. Adventure tourism is now a separate profitable industry catering differently to a number of travellers as per their choices.

Resort Tourism

Today, every city or town in India is witnessing resorts mushrooming in large numbers. A wide expanse of open fields lying wild with grass today changes in no time into manicured lawns replete with high-end recreational facilities and marketed as a premium hospitality spot in the name of resort. The concept of weekending or staycation has emerged mostly due to the springing up of resorts one after the other. People mostly like to spend their weekends today in a resort. The love for resorts among the travellers of the modern era has become so high that it won't be wrong to classify resorts into the subject of resort tourism. Resorts are places with excellent lodging facilities looking out over calm and mesmerizing views of nature, and dining requirements are also of high quality standards there. Meanwhile, there are wonderful places for strolling and a great number of leisure activities as well. As resorts provide everything necessary for a good traveling experience at one place, it drastically changed the face of the tourism industry and people have liked this concept of holidaying and thereby, resort tourism came into being.

Although these types of tourism have gained popularity among the masses, the subject of tourism is in itself a broad one and has been captivating people for ages.
