I don’t remember anything at all from before this- not my Name, where I’m from nothing. It's like my whole life. Before this got washed away from my mind. So I guess I’m starting fresh whether I like it or not. This was already shaping out to be the worst most rotten day of My life and I hadn’t even opened my eyes yet. So, that’s just what I did and you know what I found out. I found out I was sitting on a fluffy thing like a marshmallow but Not exactly. After that, I peeked off the edge of my ‘marshmallow’ and I saw that I was like a thousand feet.
In the air (Yeah, I know what you’re thinking no I don’t know how I got this high up). So now I’m high up in the Sky with no food or water or supplies of any sort and I’m Wearing a bright yellow tee shirt and a pair of jeans. Then I realized it was my only saving grace, and the only one. A good thing that happened to me was a backpack with a water bottle and a little bit of food enough for only a day Maybe two if I rationed well. There was also a notebook.
And a pen (how I’m writing this). So now I have a few. Prominent issues on the horizon first are my major Shortage of food and water and I think the more. Pressing matter how I’m going to be getting off of this Cloud. Honestly, my first thought was that it was a great book. This would make (this is the thought that made me start. Writing about my story. Secretly hoping someone, anyone may find this book and read it). But anyway, my first ‘Solution’ to get off this cloud was (I know it sounds crazy) but it was to jump from cloud to cloud and Somehow jump to the ground (this was also the point I realized I was on a cloud and not a floating Marshmallow).
Yeah, I know extremely stupid after a a couple of seconds and many ideas on how this plan Could fail I realized that clouds don’t go all the way to the Ground. And even if theoretically I could do this there wasn’t a cloud near me in a ten-mile radius. I had no other ideas on how to get down for a while and Quite a long while. Then after all this uneventful thinking I noticed that we were moving and by we, I mean the Cloud was moving but I think moving may have been an Overstatement because the cloud was moving slower Then a snail. At this point, I thought I should name the Cloud because it would probably be the last thing I ever saw in my life, so I decided to name it ‘Cloudy’ (I know. so original) but I wasn’t expecting anyone to know the Name or that I even named a cloud. I am also extremely.
Embarrassed that this fact is public, but what can I do About it now? Right so going forward I should remember. That my cloud was moving, but I had a sneaking. The suspicion that I’m going to forget the fact that may or May not be important in the future (Oh yeah! I know Some first-class foreshadowing). Then I noticed that we were above an extremely large lake humungous even, it was probably an ocean or a sea or something Thinking about it now. Then this is where I thought of Plan ‘B’ Why not jump into the ocean I thought if I Jumped I would have so much momentum that I would probably find myself at the bottom of the Mariana.
Trench in a split second or maybe I would burn up like a Meteorite. And if I belly-flopped from this height I would most likely die or have really serious injuries. At the very least. So, this meant both plan ‘A’ and ‘B’ We're out of the books. And it also meant I was back to Square one. At this point, I was beginning to think I would probably die on a cloud and no one would ever find me.
The next day my food and water supplies were almost. Exhausted I decided to search my backpack and found a secret compartment and in it was a small piece of paper Folded up. I opened it and in it was written a riddle and Written underneath that was ‘If you complete this riddle. You will be rewarded with food and water and in the Back was ‘to claim your prize write your answer on the Sheet and throw it off the cloud. Soon after this, you will Be rewarded. The riddle was “I dance with dust, I Wrestle with trees. Yet cage me not, for I shall seize, all. Breath from you if held too tight- what has no shape, but Wields such might?” this was and still is to me the most a Confusing set of lines I have heard in my life. And this was my only chance to get food and water or else I might Die but this riddle proved to be the bane of my existence.
For what I think was a few hours had minimal Success but I had a few guesses that turned out to be Wrong. At the time I thought were right but I was too scared to write it and threw the paper off the island Thinking it was my only opportunity and I couldn’t waste It. My only guesses were wind, water, or a cloud. Air Because it was the obvious choice. Water because of Floods also has no defined shape like the wind. And Loud mostly because I was on one. Then I was contemplating whether not to eat lunch or dinner so I Could save food for the next day.
Then the next day came and I couldn’t figure out the Riddle it was eating me alive and now I got scared That I would starve to death. After a few hours, I had a few guesses like a hurricane or floods but not much Else. But that’s when I noticed it in the distance exactly.
How the riddle described it (if you want you can think of your answer before continuing) “dancing with dust And wrestling with the trees and it had no shape but Possessed so much might” Then I remembered what it was it was a tornado strong as an ox shapeless as Water could kill you at a moment's notice and could Never be caged. That’s what I wrote on the piece of paper and tossed it off the edge. Quite a bit later after Throwing the piece of paper, I noticed that I hadn’t received any food and I was starving out of my mind.
And that’s when it happened I still shudder when Thinking about it. It felt like someone jabbed a needle in My back and then I blacked out after a few hours at least I woke up. After waking I found that my bag had Loads of food and water much more than I first found, it Was overflowing now. This was the first time I Had a full stomach in the last 2 or 3 days. But Now it was getting late at night and I went to sleep it Was one of the most peaceful nights I’ve had in a while.
So, the morning of the next day I had an apple and Peanut butter and jam sandwich I got from yesterday's Delivery of provisions. After filling up my stomach I Decided to asses and count up all the resources I had. I had two apples another PB&J and a few bologna Sandwiches. It also contained another piece of paper with another riddle on it which read” I’m not part of the flight, but I help you glide. Made from fabric, string, and a whole lot of pride. You cut, you tie, you test my shape If I work, you’ll have a safe escape. What am I?” And underneath that was written “This riddle is the only way you will be able to get off your eternal prison” and after reading this I thought this has to have some correlation in the way I get off this cloud.
After a bit, I was almost a hundred percent sure I had the answer to the riddle. It had to be a parachute and that too a homemade one because in the riddle it said you make it and it was the only feasible way I could get down to the ground with anything to do with the riddle.
So that’s just what I wrote and as usual, I blacked out again but when I woke up I had a lingering sense of pain but I ignored it and saw what the riddle had given me. It was a pair of scissors and a thick string.
First I thought I should climb down the string but it was a silly idea to even think of and it went with the other two failed plans. Then I saw it, underneath the piece of rope was another piece of paper.
And like no one expected it had another riddle written on it and it said” I’m born from the thread, but not alive. I come in colors, shapes, and sizes. I cover, wrap, or decorate Without a word, I communicate. What am I?” This riddle was easy for me to do because I already knew the answer in a couple of seconds. It had to be cloth because it was the only other thing I needed to make myself a parachute.
So I wrote cloth on the paper and threw it off the cloud and as usual I blacked out and when I woke up was rewarded for my intellect with a piece of cloth. After getting my clothes I had to make my parachute and then I started work on that So, I started the cutting process and realized I was making a pretty good pace with making the parachute And that it should be done by tomorrow maybe even Today if I hurried. But I thought I’d try it tomorrow and I Shouldn’t rush with making it so I don’t mess up and Either get myself killed or stuck up here forever.
Answering riddles to stay alive. I was still cutting when The sun started to set and I hadn’t even realized it had Been so long but I was almost finished and worked along. Into the nighty till it was done under the moonlight and Powered by adrenaline. After finishing and making Sure it couldn’t fly off the cloud I went to sleep ready to Get the parachute ready and fly it off the island for the final day of the adventure. The next morning, I woke up to find my makeshift parachute was about to fall off the cloud and I lunged for it. Barely being able to snatch it up before it fell off the Cloud. I genuinely thought that was my only chance to get off.
The cloud was lost forever. Today I only needed to Attach the straps to the parachute and fly off to the closest piece of open land I could see for a safe landing. So the first thing I did today after eating was go and Attach the straps to the parachute to the main body. After a quick sip of water, I was extremely scared but I also felt ready to get off of this cloud. So, I got the parachute and held it above me and ran to the edge and just stopped dead in my tracks and thought of how Scared I felt the parachute would break mid-flight and I May fall to my death. But I had no choice I had to Commit to jumping and so I did. I jumped off the cloud.
Full speed ahead. At first, I thought that my parachute. Wasn’t going to work and then all of a sudden the thing Caught air and I started drifting steadily onto the Ground. I was only a few hundred feet off the ground. When I heard a spine-chilling rip I looked up to find That the side of my parachute was my parachute was Ripping. But I hoped the thing would last because there. There was nothing else I could do and kept on powering. Through to the ground. After a few minutes I safely. Landed on the ground and felt so shocked that my handmade parachute got me to the Ground and I survived the whole thing. I did have a bit of A tumble in landing but I was alright.
This was the story about how I survived on a cloud and managed a way to get down mostly unscathed except For the PTSD and all the nightmares I had.
