The action of reducing inadequate energy consumption by utilizing fewer energy services has become a necessity in this generation. Energy Conservation is presented as the practice of utilizing less energy in order to reduce harmful environmental impact and it can be considerably defined as the ‘Efficient use of energy.’ To make the plans and policies of energy conservation more practical, it is extremely vital to take individual actions and make everyone aware of the impacts. And to transmit a message of the significance of energy conservation, National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated every year on 14th December in India. The Energy Efficiency Bureau (BEE) of India implemented the Indian Energy Conservation Act in 2001 which aspired to draft policies regarding energy conservation. After this act came into force, every year on 14th December various conferences, workshops, and schemes are directly organised to raise awareness about energy conservation on a national platform.
Every year, BEE encourages the efforts of industries in downsizing energy consumption by felicitating them with awards. The celebration of National Energy Conservation Day is being organised this year as well. On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu will felicitate the winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards, National Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards, and National Painting Competition Prizes.
