This heartfelt plea was sent by a teenager Alex Batty to his grandmother.
The world was moved by a touching incident surrounding a teenager who had been missing since around 2017. Recently, a delivery driver discovered him in a mountainous village in Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse, France. The 11-year-old, discovered by a delivery driver, had been living a nomadic lifestyle with his mother and grandfather, engaging in unconventional practices such as meditation and discussions on mystical subjects.
Alex, last seen during a holiday in Spain with his mother and grandfather, disclosed that he had been residing in a secluded spiritual community in the Pyrenees. The family adopted a nomadic lifestyle, moving from one communal house to another, sustaining themselves through gardening and odd jobs, and consistently traveling with their own solar panels. According to the police, Alex decided to end his nomadic life when his mother expressed a desire to relocate to Finland. Parting ways with his family, he embarked on a journey, carrying his belongings, including a skateboard and a lamp. The teenager had been on the road for four days, predominantly traveling at night and sustaining himself by foraging for food in fields and vegetable gardens. A delivery driver named Fabien Accidini discovered Alex and offered assistance in the middle of the night. The teenager's identity has been confirmed by his family, and he is expected to return to England.
In a media interview, French official Leroy confirmed that the teenager experienced no physical violence during his time with his mother and grandfather. Susan Caruana, Alex's grandmother and legal guardian has said that she is relieved and currently, the major priority is Alex's safety. She also emphasized the overwhelming experience he must have gone through during his time away. Alex conveyed his desire to come home in a message sent to his grandmother from Accidini's Facebook account, eagerly expecting their reunion.
Currently, a search operation is in place to locate Alex's mother. The family is now seeking privacy as they await further developments in the ongoing search for Alex's mother.
