One of the most prevalent sporting events – “The Commonwealth Games 2022” is ongoing in Birmingham England. And the Indian contingent has been making the country proud. India is contending in this multi-sports event with a team of more than 200 sportspersons, competing in around 16 different sports categories. The Commonwealth Games 2022 (CWG) is underway in Birmingham, the United Kingdom from 28 July to 8 August 2022. A total of 72 nations are participating this year and in the prior phase of the event, the athletes of the Indian contingent have already flourished in the competition through their achievements.
At CWG 2022, the star Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu rolled on a record-breaking spree and claimed India’s first Gold Medal at the event. The weightlifting event continued to be conquered by India as weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga also claimed the gold medal. Weightlifter Anchita Sheuli likewise grabbed a gold medal. Weightlifter Bindyarani Devi and Sanket Sargar further won silver medals in the event. Gururaja Poojary and Harjinder Kaur also gave tough competitions and were successful to snatch bronze medals in their categories. Weightlifter Lovepreet Singh furthermore won a brown in Men’s category and continued India’s winning spree at CWG 2022.
Apart from ruling the rounds in weightlifting, the Indian contingent even succeeded in other sports events like Judo, tennis, badminton, and several others. Indian Judokas L Shushila Devi presented an excellent performance and won a silver medal and Judokas Vijay Kumar Yadav seized a bronze medal in his category. The Women’s Fours team of India won a gold medal for the very first time at the CWG. India’s Men’s Table Tennis team also clinched a gold medal. The Mixed badminton team won a historic silver medal in the CWG after 24 years. After this fabulous winning fling, Indian players are still participating and performing at multiple sports events in the CWG.
Numerous other prominent sports players from India are yet to perform at the event, and in the upcoming days, the Indian contingent will be eyeing more medals. All the Indian citizens are expressing admiration for all the Indian participants at the Commonwealth Games 2022. This event is being displayed live in India on Sony channels and DD Sports. While we have already witnessed many Indian sportspeople achieve victories at the Commonwealth Games 2022, India’s other players are now also on the way to glory soon!
