Chandrayaan-3 is advancing toward the moon's surface, with ISRO Chairman S Somanath confirming that the mission is on track and moving ahead smoothly. The latest developments indicate that the spacecraft is healthy and undergoing a series of planned maneuvers as it heads towards a momentous soft landing on the Moon's surface, expected on August 23.

Recent updates from ISRO shed light on the positive progress of the mission. The spacecraft has been undergoing a series of meticulously planned maneuvers to gradually position itself in a lunar orbit just 100 kilometers above the Moon's surface while aligning with the lunar poles. This positioning is a crucial step as it allows for better accuracy during the final landing approach.

The recent video released by ISRO showcases the Moon from the perspective of Chandrayaan-3 during its lunar orbit insertion. This release comes shortly after Chandrayaan-3 successfully executed an orbit reduction maneuver, bringing it closer to the Moon's surface at an altitude of 170 kilometers by 4,313 kilometers.

The coming days hold significant milestones for the Chandrayaan-3 mission. ISRO is working diligently to determine the most precise landing site near the Moon's south pole within the next ten days. Following this, the propulsion module will detach from the lander while both are in orbit. This strategic separation will pave the way for the lander to initiate its descent towards the lunar surface, embarking on the crucial soft-landing attempt. To ensure a successful landing, a series of intricate braking maneuvers are planned. These maneuvers will be executed with precision to facilitate a gentle touchdown in the Moon's South Polar region on August 23, at 5:47 pm. ISRO's meticulous planning also takes into account factors such as the moon's sunrise, which plays a role in the lunar landing schedule. In case of any unforeseen challenges, there is a possibility that the landing might be rescheduled for September. ISRO's dedicated efforts and meticulous planning have brought India's Chandrayaan-3 mission closer to a groundbreaking accomplishment. As each milestone is met and surpassed, the mission edges closer to achieving what has never been done before - a soft landing on the Moon's surface.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is a significant step forward in India's space exploration efforts, particularly in preparation for future interplanetary endeavors. Its primary focus is to showcase the essential capability of safely achieving a controlled soft landing on the lunar surface, a feat that previous missions had not been able to accomplish. Notably, if successful, India will proudly become the first nation to achieve this controlled landing near the Moon's south pole. And with the world watching, India's determination and expertise in space exploration are on full display as the nation aims for another remarkable feat in its space journey.
