The passion and enjoyment are rising promptly in this festive season. Numerous people are worshipping Lord Ganesha and receiving his blessings all over the world. Just like us, a region in Indonesia is also worshipping Ganesha, not just for this season but for the whole time. There is a 700 years old, tiny and glorious idol of Lord Ganesha at the top of a Volcano named Mount Bromo in Indonesia.
Mount Bromo is a part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia, at 7,641 ft. This region is one of the most visited tourist interests in East Java, Indonesia. The volcano is the possession of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
The name of the word ‘Bromo’ derived from Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu deity of creation. According to the records till 2012, the entire region of Indonesia had 127 active volcanoes and about 5 million people active within the danger zones. The Ganesha idol which relies on the Mount Bromo volcano carries a great significance. Local people believe that Lord Ganesha is their protector from this active Volcano. The legends of Tengger massif tribe expresses that the Ganesha idol was installed by their ancestors around 700 years ago. The Tenggerese also make numerous offerings to the Ganesha.
There is also a festival named ‘Yadnya Kasadaj’ also called as Keasada, in the local temple, the ‘Pura Luhur Poten’. This festival is organized for there own Hindu Supreme lord, the ‘Widi Wasa’, as per the belief of Indonesian Hindus. The local people also offer sacrifices, which include fruits, animals flowers as well as money re thrown into the volcano and are offered in gratefulness for the prosperity of agriculture and livestock. But a notable thing is that their supreme lord, the Widi Wasa is none but Brahma, portraying the utmost reality referred in the Vedas. In the Pura Luhur Poten temple, there is also an elegant figure of Lord Ganesha. The temple was created with the black rocks from the volcano.
The Mount Bromo which is under the protection of Lord Ganesha is well-known for its stunning sunrise views and view of the volcano crater. But Bromo is still one of the most active volcanoes in the world and there are regions that are prohibited for tourists due to its immense danger, but as the locals of Bromo believe, that Lord Ganesha will defend them from all the calamities.
