Today it would be hard to find anyone who does not know the name & legend that is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. And this legendary cricketer has announced his retirement from international cricket. Dhoni made the confirmation through a social media post on Saturday (August 15), its caption reading: “Thanks. Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. From 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”

MS Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team retires as Indian cricket’s most successful captain in limited-overs internationals, having won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, the only captain to do so. A right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper, Dhoni is one of the highest run-scorers in One Day Internationals (ODIs) with more than 10,000 runs scored and is regarded a significant "finisher" in limited-overs formats. He is also considered as one of the best wicket-keepers and captains in recent limited-overs international cricket.

Dhoni is known as the captain cool of all time, having achieved more success than any other captain in the history of cricket. In 2018, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award. Before that, in 2009 he received Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award. And in 2008, he attained Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, India's highest honour given for achievement in sports.

The helicopter shot fame, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's social media post did not mention the formats he is retiring from, and he is expected to play in the upcoming IPL 2020 in the UAE. Dhoni is currently part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai and is expected to lead the team in the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League which is set to start in the UAE.

Hours after the former team India skipper MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket, social media was filled with messages for the legendary Indian captain. 

Several fans also went on to remember actor Sushant Singh Rajput once again. Sushant had played the role of M.S. Dhoni on the big screen, and shown the cricketer's spectacular career after seeing early struggle. Many celebrities and his colleagues showed their gratitude towards Dhoni. But the captain cool will be remembered for being a key in Indian cricket's iconic moments and the journey to be remembered for ages, and not for a few moments.
