But recently, the CEO of Netflix announced that the firm still has a ‘long way to go’ to create its own franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix was in an interview with ‘The Hollywood Reporter’. He was questioned that, what he learned from Hollywood, and he said that Netflix has a ‘long way to go’ before it creates its own series like Hollywood's Star Wars and Harry Potter, and they are intending to get at that phase. He believes that Netflix is making some great series and making great progress with ‘Stranger Things’, and other franchises. But they haven't reached the original level of Harry Potter and Star Wars.

In that period, Netflix had 41 sci-fi TV shows in production. In recent times, Netflix has hopped into fantasy like Netflix's Harry Potter and sci-fi franchise like Star Wars, and similarly with comic books and video games. Last year, the fantasy drama ‘The Witcher’ became one of Netflix's biggest TV shows. Now, the prequel of ‘The Witcher’ and an Anime movie are already in the process. Moreover, Netflix announced that the former, ‘Game of Thrones’ directors, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will write and produce a series named, ‘Three-Body Problem’, based on a sci-fi book trilogy by the Chinese author Liu Cixin. In August, they declared openly that a fresh live-action series established on the ‘Resident Evil’ video games is also in the works.
