In a landmark move aimed at harnessing the potential of India's youth in shaping the nation's future, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated an initiative that seeks to involve the youth actively in shaping the nation's plans and priorities. The Prime Minister has announced 'Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth'. The initiative seeks active participation from the country's youth in the formulation of national goals. 'Voice of Youth' serves as a platform for young individuals to contribute their ideas towards the realization of 'Viksit Bharat', envisioning India as a developed nation by its 100th year of independence.
Prime Minister has addressed Vice Chancellors, Heads of Institutes, and faculty members in workshops organized nationwide at Raj Bhawan, marking the commencement of this visionary initiative. The vision contains various aspects of development, spanning economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance. The recent workshop, a pivotal first step in this process, can facilitate the engagement of the youth in sharing their ideas and suggestions for the complete vision of a developed India. The government invited youth to provide insights on three fundamental queries:
BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of Niti Aayog, responsible for drafting the vision document, revealed that consultations with industries and ministries were nearly concluded, and the draft document is in its final stages. Subrahmanyam emphasized the significance of channeling the innovative ideas of the youth into nation-building, acknowledging the critical juncture India stands at in its development.
As per the International Labour Organisation (ILO) data, the Indian workforce is projected to expand by more than 8 million annually in the next decade, primarily fueled by the entry of youth into the labor market. India, recognized globally as one of the youngest countries boasts a population where about 66% are under the age of 35. Now the duty of the policymakers is to transform this massive youth population into a valuable capital asset for the nation. The key strategy for policymakers is to focus on education, skill development, and grooming initiatives to harness the potential of the youth.
Drawing a parallel between the development period of 'Viksit Bharat' and an examination, the Prime Minister has highlighted the need for confidence, preparation, dedication, and discipline to achieve the set goals. He has urged citizens to view the next 25 years as an "Amrit Kaal" and work tirelessly towards the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. This initiative marks a significant step towards empowering the youth in shaping India's future, aligning with the broader vision of making the nation a developed powerhouse in the near future.
