Virat Kohli has announced that he is leaving the post of the Test Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. Kohli made his announcement on social media with a heartful message to his colleagues, mentors, and fans. In a post, Virat Kohli noted,

“Everything has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test captain of India, it’s now”.

Recently, India confronted a startling defeat against South Africa in the three-match Test series. And Kohli's announcement came just a day after India lost the series against South Africa. Last year, Kohli also stepped down as the T20 Captain. After that, Kohli was also replaced by Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Indian ODI team in the white-ball formats.

Apart from being out of form for several tournaments, Virat Kohli has emerged as one of the most thriving captains in the Test history of Indian cricket. After the retirement of MS Dhoni from Test Cricket in 2014, Kohli became the captain of the Test Cricket Team of India. The ex-captain has played a total of 99 Tests since making his debut in the Test matches. Though Kohli has not won an ICC Tournament as captain, he has been a quite successful Indian captain. But now India's cricket star Kohli will no longer be his nation's Test cricket captain.
