They say that Mumbai is a city of illusions (Maya Nagri), where illusions are everywhere, casting a wide net. If you look closely in Mumbai, money is scattered on every street; it just takes hard work to pick it up. Many hardworking people go there exactly for this reason. People like (MAYANK LOHAR) step out every single day to do this hard work. The pride of Mumbai, the honour of Mumbai, and what is called the lifeline of Mumbai is its local train. However, sometimes, because of people like (SACHIN RAMESH SUVARNA), this lifeline of Mumbai becomes 'life-taking' for some. And that is exactly what happened. Because of a disturbed mind—meaning Sachin Ramesh Suvarna—this lifeline of Mumbai became life-taking for someone, namely Mayank Lohar. It so happened on the night of Tuesday, June 24th, that both Mayank and Sachin were travelling in the same compartment. Both were riding in the 1st class coach of a Mumbai local train. This specific train was a fast local running from Churchgate to Nallasopara.
Since it was the month of June, it was bound to rain—after all, it was Mumbai. Even though it was a 1st class coach, raindrops kept splashing inside the compartment through the open door and window. It was around 10:42 PM when an argument broke out between Mayank Lohar and Sachin Ramesh Suvarna over closing the window. Mayank asked to close it, but out of sheer stubbornness—or, according to his later confrontation, because he was heavily under the influence of alcohol—Sachin refused to close the train door.
That is when the argument began between the two. Slowly, this argument started turning into a major fight, and it didn't take long to escalate to abusive language. In the heat of the moment, Mayank Lohar also punched Sachin. After that, the brawl just wouldn't stop. Amidst the intense fighting and heavy verbal abuse, the other passengers travelling in that local train also felt Mayank was right. Instead of stopping them, they all supported Mayank, thinking he was doing the right thing. But little did those people know that their failure to intervene would cost Mayank Lohar his life.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. Sachin was heavily drunk, and he could not digest or tolerate everyone siding with Mayank. Even after Mayank raised his hand against him, everyone still supported Mayank and instead scolded and abused Sachin. He felt deeply humiliated. Combined with his heavily intoxicated state, he completely lost his senses. Who knows why he had a knife kept inside his bag, which he pulled out. He stabbed Mayank Lohar in the chest and abdomen area. He used all his strength to brutally plunge the knife into poor Mayank's chest like an animal. He repeatedly stabbed him over and over again until all his rage was completely spent.
In such a horrific situation, no one can blame the others for why they didn't try to stop him. In that terrifying atmosphere, no one would have even dared to breathe, let alone stop him. Forget stopping him; even thinking about intervening would have been impossible."
So this incident takes place where all the passengers would have been barely managing to compose themselves in a highly dangerous atmosphere, as the train compartment was completely covered in blood and echoing with Mayank's screams. As soon as the train reached a nearby station around 11:04 PM, railway police officers arrived at the compartment. Within 3 minutes, all GRP and RPF personnel reached the spot. Medical personnel moved Mayank on a stretcher to the station's medical room by 11:22 PM. However, because his condition was so critical, he was later rushed via ambulance to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali by approximately 11:42 PM. Unfortunately, his condition had deteriorated so severely that he was declared dead.
Later, when the police arrested Sachin Ramesh Suvarna, he confessed to everything during an interrogation session on Thursday, June 25. Furthermore, during extensive investigations, officials—who had reached the crime scene by 1:00 AM—seized all the CCTV footage from the train compartment. The investigation into other aspects of the case is still ongoing.
