Every year, over 20 lakh students appear for the NEET examination. To qualify for such exams, students spend years studying and preparing, hoping that in the end they get to fulfil their dream of pursuing a medical degree from a good institute.

WHY WAS THE EXAM CANCELLED

The NEET exam was cancelled because of massive paper leak allegations. Investigators found that the papers had approximately 120 to 140 questions matching the actual biology and chemistry sections of the exam. And as a result, NTA had to cancel the test and order a CBI investigation. This leaked question bank was reportedly traced from a printing chain to major coaching hubs like Sikar, Rajasthan, and circulated via social media platforms such as Telegram.

WHO WILL TAKE THE BLAME

On 12 May, the national testing agency (NTA) cancelled the NEET UG examination held on 3rd May 2026 and will re-conduct the examination on 21st June.

Due to certain allegations regarding exam leaks, this measure was taken, but the question is, who is responsible for this faulty system? No one has taken accountability for this misconduct.

Is this how a nation treats its future?

Years of hard work, 28 lakh students, dreams online, yet no accountability.

How many more paper leaks before the students lose all interest in the NTA?

LEAKS AND MISCONDUCT HAVE DESTROYED THE NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY'S STATURE

The integrity of major examinations has been severely compromised. For example, the NEET UG exam was cancelled due to allegations of an exam leak through guess papers matching the actual exam.

Not only this, but massive technical glitches, bad internet and server crashes led to the cancellation of computer-based tests like CUET-UG and JEE (mains) at hundreds of exam centres. Even during high-stakes exams, severe administrative blunders have occurred, including the distribution of incorrect language question papers at local centres and the mishandling of physical papers before delivery.

The NTA has faced legal battles and public backlash over opaque moderation and grace marks policies and a general lack of transparency regarding how question papers are set.

INJUSTICE TO STUDENTS, MOCKERY OF THEIR EFFORTS!

Every year, lakhs of students dream of becoming doctors and decide to appear for the NEET examination. But “this isn't any normal school exam”; yes, students spend years studying for this exam, hoping to get a good score and a good rank in order to study in a good medical institute. This journey is not easy; it involves sacrifices, sheer determination and self-control. They go through a loop of self-doubt and low self-esteem.

Students miss family functions, leave their hobbies and spend their teenage years chasing one dream. What did they do to deserve such injustice? These students work hard day and night, and what do they get as a result?

Carelessness by the national testing agency to conduct an examination, knowing that lakhs of students' entire careers are dependent on this one exam, is unacceptable.

THE BIGGEST ILLUSION WASN'T THE QUESTION PAPER!

On 20 April, NTA posted a reel with a statement on Instagram saying, “You think it's just a question paper? That's the biggest illusion students live in.

While you're debating "aaj padhun ya kal," an entire system is already 10 steps ahead. Months of planning. Layers of security. Zero margin for error.

This isn't your school test. This is a national-level filtration system designed to test your overall readiness. Practice, timing, mindset — everything is under the scanner.

Mock tests don't scare you. The scale should.

Because on exam day, it's not just you vs questions. It's you vs a system that doesn't slow down for anyone. Are you ready to be a part of a better BHARAT?

The system is ready. Are you actually ready... or just telling yourself you are?”

Now, after a major failure in the system with “layers of security and zero margin for error", NTA and the ministers of our country remain silent.

CLAIMS OF BETTER BHARAT: The Irony of an Infallible System

The NTA uses the term "Better Bharat", but this claim is ironic, coming from a system that presents itself as infallible. We live in a nation where every minister is an expert at hosting grand events and inaugurations and spreading false slogans of a changing country, yet they refuse to take an ounce of accountability when the system collapses into conflict. We live in a nation that prioritises 'stand-up comedy' conflicts over genuine cases of rape and murder.

CURRENT SITUATION

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five individuals and conducted searches across multiple locations in connection with the alleged irregularities and paper leak in the NEET UG-2026 examination. The CBI on Friday said it had arrested a retired chemistry professor, whom it identified as a key accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, in Latur.

A total of 7 individuals have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the widespread irregularities and paper leak of the NEET-UG 2026 examination.

The CBI also said they have arrested the kingpin of this controversy.
