Dainik Bhaskar’s reporter Mahima Singh did what the justice system is supposed to do. The reporter went undercover in Bihar’s orchestra unit, posing as a dancer and revealed shocking truths behind the stage. The reporter was taken to Deepak’s orchestra, where, within an hour, Deepak had told everyone that a dancer from Haryana had arrived, and after a short while, people started coming. The reporter passed the first night with great difficulty, as many who came offered money or tried to exert influence over her. We can conclude that the names involved in this nexus are not just criminals but also mind molesters, as they brainwash the girls into thinking that they will achieve fame through their talent, only to sell them into a sex racket.
The reporter stayed there for 5 days, during which she had to undergo abuse, both mental and physical, threats, fear, and had to narrate the experience to expose a larger truth simultaneously. Her investigative journalism is an ode to all the media houses out there who have failed to report the truth about our own nation, the law and order, who have failed once again to instigate such cruel crimes against women.
The report included that at night, new people would come to the girls, share a bed and leave. The reporter was made to scrub toilets, wash utensils, sweep and mop. The reporter was then sold to Gudiya, who supplies girls from different states, including Nepal and Bengal, after she refused to listen to Deepak, who had asked her to go along with the other girls who were handed over to different guests.
Gudiya kept trying to brainwash the reporter by stating she would become famous and gain wealth. In two days, 14 people had come to meet the reporter, but she did not talk to anyone properly and was sold again to Vicky.
The reporter was collecting information from the minor girls there, after which she was threatened with a large stick, demanding to delete the videos or they would finish her. The reporter somehow managed to get through and immediately sent her team a message to collect her. She made her escape and was finally taken to a safe space.
The reporter narrated that they were giving hormonal injections to the minor girls so they could mature early and were impregnating them so that they could sell their babies. Dr Naveen would deliver the babies in his clinic and sell them off. This brought to light many local hospitals and quack doctors who were actively involved in this.
The Siwan police SP has stated that they will conduct raids and take major action based on what was exposed in the sting operation. They have rescued 21 girls, roughly around the ages of 13-15, from the Siwan orchestra groups. Gudiya, a key agent involved in trafficking, has been arrested. Over 450 orchestras are being scanned. The police are still searching for Dr Naveen, although I don't believe this title should be given to him anymore.
This report is not only a news report but is evidence of the true spirit of journalism, which is to spread the truth. It highlights the situation of girls belonging to the lower bracket who are not only exploited for their talent but also exploited for their bodies, minds and futures. Operation Red Light brings light to the vast network that has been established by these criminals to generate wealth. It also shows the lack of order in the justice system for every local MLA, police, hospitals, and doctors who are involved are a disgrace to our country’s population and pride. These people who are portrayed as leaders to the youth of our country have greatly failed them.
Reporters like Mahima Singh, who choose the path of courage just to bring out the truth and reach corners where no light is present, are a symbol of bravery to every person in the world. The lack of coverage from other media houses shows their ignorance of all the efforts made by Dainik Bhaskar and Mahima Singh, but despite it all, it is inspiring to see women standing up for their nation and speaking freely on its issues. Such commitment to her work is truly commendable and shall live for generations.
Operation Red Light exposes the truth behind the sex rackets disguised as orchestras. Operation Red Light uncovered a multi-district trafficking network in Bihar after a two-month sting, exposing the sale and movement of girls, many aged 14-22, through fake orchestra-job offers, with deals allegedly ranging from ₹20,000 to over ₹1 lakh. Operation Red Light exposed the harsh reality of human trafficking hidden behind fake employment opportunities. Mahima Singh’s investigation showed how vulnerable girls are trapped through deception and exploitation. The sting not only revealed the scale of the crime but also emphasised the urgent need for stricter law enforcement, public awareness, and stronger protection systems for women and children.
