"Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which initially emerged as a satire, turned out to be the sensational online political movement, gaining more supporters across social media platforms than the existing on record political parties. The controversy began after the remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, which many interpreted as referring to unemployed youth as ‘cockroaches’. Later on, the clarification from him stated it’s an act of misquote; instead, he has pointed out “People with fake degrees getting established and questioning the system”, but not the unemployed youth. Yet the allegedly misquoted statement got escalated, resulting in outrage against the CJI and government by millions of youth, which led to an online political movement initiated by Mr Abhijeet Dipke, stating CJP as “Voice of the lazy & unemployed” questioning the ruling government.

In today’s world of social media, a minor incident that is recorded, edited and uploaded to the online platform spreads rapidly, and within seconds it goes viral. Instant saves, shares, and most importantly, relatability to the content and audience engagement consistently push the content to reach millions of users. Despite CJP being a satirical movement, connected with unemployed youth, frustrated citizens who already felt that their unheard battles are constantly being ignored by the political delegates who are misusing their power & position. The digital protest began to question the mismanagement of the political authorities, and the leaders dismissed it as a blame game by the opposition.

The outrage surrounding the issue was not limited to a single viral statement. It’s many young Indians accumulated frustration against the government failures regarding the NEET question paper leak, staking the careers of students by simply giving the solution as a result of re-examination, leaving over 22 lakh aspirants facing immense mental exhaustion and academic uncertainty. The protest also includes exam corruption by the CBSE revaluation process, which primarily refers to a series of widespread technical failures, administrative lapses, and the ongoing scams, causing severe backlash against the education system,  demanding resignation of the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan #EduMinisterMustResign petition on social media. According to CMIE reports and government labour surveys, youth unemployment in India is disproportionately high among graduates, often exceeding 15% to 40% for the under-25 demographic, and has remained a major concern in recent years. Rising unemployment, inflation caused by the war situation and many drastic uncertainties needed greater attention. CJP, being the face of this protest, stood against the government in support of students and unemployed youth demanding a secular, socialist, democratic ruling.

Within days, the movement reportedly crossed millions of followers across social media platforms and attracted attention from media organisations globally. Most of the political representatives questioned the genuineness of this activism, which is allegedly “A party for the people the system forgot to count. Five demands. Zero sponsors. One large, stubborn swarm.” With a non-negotiable manifesto depicting RTI accountability - Full transparency under the Right to Information Act. No more darkness; Judicial Independence - No post-retirement rewards for sitting judges. The bench is not a queue; Electoral Integrity - EC accountability for voter roll deletions. Every cockroach gets a vote; Employment Reality - Honest policies for unemployed youth, not labels and lectures; Free Speech - Protect the right to rant professionally. Memes are constitutional. These five demands are not irrational but the long-standing frustrations of the people residing in a democratic country like India. This viral social media party positioned itself as the voice of unemployed youth standing against the suppressed crisis. The political parties, activists, media portals, critics need to pay attention to CJP bringing up the most reasonable demands that can be accomplished for the benefit of society.

In today’s digital world, acknowledging the unheard dissatisfaction of the citizens, confronting the scams, and questioning the system failure is legit. With the support of a tweet, a meme and a google form responses eventually turned out to be the reality of the society, a reflection of public frustration and political disconnect, which made a 30-year-old political communications strategist formerly with AAP, launch an online public political party on 16 May 2026. CJP, which is a public political movement with a published manifesto, public membership register and regional coordinators in over 20 states. Representing on behalf of millions of people by providing an online platform as a medium to correct the political failures of the system. So that every citizen in this country gets accountability provided by institutions and recognises the loopholes in the system, which need to be corrected in order to erase the constant dissatisfaction raised by the public. Whether CJP survives as a long-term movement or fades like many internet trends, its sudden rise reveals an important reality about modern India in a digitally connected society, even humour and memes can evolve into powerful forms of political communication capable of exposing loopholes, amplifying dissatisfaction and forcing institutions to confront issues they can no longer ignore.
