Abstract: Artificial Intelligence is like an alien that has come to the Earth from some other planet. It has then spread its tentacles to every single field of our daily life in areas of education, research, household, services and mechanics. AI tools are now the building blocks of all innovations. Companies simply refuse to hire people with zero AI knowledge as employees, while often overlooking their outstanding scores and exclusive talents. However, too much dependence on AI is having a negative impact on creativity, cutting down a person’s desire as well as capability to think, imagine, experiment and produce. However, using AI up to a certain limit and at no cost beyond that can indeed form a new milestone on the path of innovations while not keeping the human brain on the reserve bench. The article primarily deals with innovations that occurred when Artificial Intelligence was something completely non-existent, and their superiority. The article also discusses how things are not the same after the interference of AI and how wonderful innovations are made possible while using AI only up to a certain desirable limit, so that only the quality of the innovation gets heightened, but the intelligence and creativity stay with man. Various innovations, their outcomes, merits and demerits are discussed in detail, and finally, it is concluded that AI is good for innovation only when limited.
Today, it seems that survival without AI is more difficult than survival without Air. Man is using his own designed weapon in every single battle he fights. AI has spread its tentacles to school and college projects, study materials, industry projects, mechanical devices and whatnot. But the most alarming field where AI has interfered, and that too destructively, is the world of innovations. Before the evolution of Artificial Intelligence, man was more interested in thinking and creating because no “Just tell and get Results” option existed. Numerous innovations took place that people had never even thought of. It was all about creativity and intellect, no room for AI. However, today, with the increase in AI in any field and every field, the quality of innovations is suffering a decline. There is a lack of uniqueness, originality and liveliness. Everything has a mechanical tone, and all creations seem to revolve around the same fulcrum. Let us discuss the innovations with and without AI and the impact of AI on innovations in detail.
The SCAMPER technique forms the basis of most innovations. Creativity hides behind the most perfect use and manipulation of one or more letters of the SCAMPER technique:
The First Flight
On December 17, 1943, the Wright Brothers- Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright came up with the sensational invention, design, creation and flight of the first aeroplane to fly above this planet. I think we need not explain to the reader that their brains were not artificial.
Telephone: The Communication Weapon
The use of handwritten letters to send messages to people thousands of miles away, which took weeks and months for the exchange of thoughts, was replaced by the invention of the telephone by Sir Alexander Graham Bell, which reduced the time required to a few seconds. Yes, you have read it right. The invention took place years ago, in 1876, when nothing called AI existed.
Coca-Cola Bottle Opener
The modern bottle caps used to close the mouths of bottles of Coca-Cola soft drinks were invented in 1892 by William Painter. However, the caps fit so tightly with the bottle that it was very difficult to open such bottles. For such bottles, a bottle opener was invented and patented in 1924 by Thomas C Hamilton. Once again, there was no question of AI.
Six Players Chess Board
We are already familiar with the Perfect Brain Game - Chess. But how many players does the game need? It's two. Right? However, a little boy named Hridayeshwar Singh Bhati invented a chessboard consisting of six players. Yes. You have read it right. Helped by his father, this young innovator invented this chessboard in 2012 at the age of nine. Feels proud to think he is an Indian.
Spoon + Fork or Spoon + Chopsticks
There exists a simple yet significant innovation of a cutlery instrument with the front end of the shape of a spoon and the back end of the shape of chopsticks. This, in turn, reduces the need for multiple eating instruments, a step towards positive minimalism. Once again, no room for AI.
The Magic of the Pen
Literary works saw their greatest heights without the utility of AI at all. The epics - Ramayana and Mahabharata are still unparalleled and unreplaced. Neither did Shakespeare require AI to write Macbeth, nor did Premchand require it to write Godan. It was absolutely imagination and had nothing to do with the mechanical world.
The Change: The Advent of AI
Unbounded interference of AI has led to a massive downfall in creativity and intellect. People have almost stopped using their skills and totally rely on AI. Many creations present a lack of quality, an absence of life, a lack of uniqueness and seem to revolve around the same pivot, killing interest and sowing the seeds of boredom and monotony. Instead of using AI to make innovations better, most people are using AI to make innovations. As a result, such innovations are not worthy to be called ‘innovations’ any longer.
Using the vintage technique of SCAMPER to make the foundation of innovations and then using AI to make it better, instead of using AI to make it completely, can help a lot. Some wonderful innovations made with this formula are as follows:
Synthesis of MOF using AI
Instead of traditional methods of MOF synthesis, the use of AI has resulted in the creation of MOF models with new properties using the principles of Large Language Models and Graph Neural Networks. While the basis of MOF synthesis remains unchanged, the use of AI enhances the quality.
TinyML models
Tiny Machine Learning, a smaller section of Machine Learning, which, unlike cloud-based models, manipulates data locally, presents the advancement of technology with the help of Artificial Intelligence, while never forgetting the quality of human-created innovations.
The ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ Movie
The Mahavatar Narsimha movie, released in 2025, is based on a mythology that belongs to ancient India. However, the combination of AI with traditional filmmaking has given birth to several special effects that boosted the attractiveness of the movie. Hence, AI again proved fruitful when assisted by human beings.
The interference of AI in every field of innovation has resulted in the downfall of creativity and intellect. While AI-powered innovations are more user-friendly, people seem to live without Air but not without AI. As a result, the quality of innovations is witnessing a significant decline. The innovations that came up using AI up to only the required limit and strengthening themselves with the touch of man are pieces of inspiration for future generations. While AI is an epitome of great advancement in technology, humans must not become AI themselves.
