Despite inaction from the end of government, tribals from Sampangipadu village in Saluru Mandal in Parvathipuram-Manyam took it upon themselves to build a 5 km unmetalled road to the nearest motorable road at Kurukuti.
Sampangipadu Sarpanch Chandraiah spent money from himself on the construction of the road due to the lack of support from local officials and leaders. Later, he collected Rs 4 lakh from 40 households in the village for the final and complete construction of the road.
The tribals mostly women and youth cleared the bushes and trees under the Shramadanam and built a road over 5km to Kurukuti with the help of machinery respectively. We also get to know that the Sarpanch Chandraiah is representing the ruling YSRC party and the Salaru assembly constituency was represented by Deputy Chief Minister and Tribal Welfare Minister Pidika Rajanna Dora.
Even after 75 years of Independence, there is no proper road leading to this village. People are facing difficulty in regard to the basic transport facilities in the area. In situations of emergency such as leaving for a hospital, it's moreover similar to a nightmare for the villagers. Although several deputations were made for the construction of the road but all in vain. So the villagers took the step themselves and were successful in their endeavour. The local people further appealed for the construction of an unmetalled road. With the help of local people and machinery, the task was completed by last Saturday.
Road facilities or any transport facility for that matter are considered to be the lifelines of the national economy. The development of transport facilities in the country serves as an index for the development of the country.
