16th April 2024 became that day, yesterday to become a memorable day for the UPSC aspirants yesterday. Yesterday, the results for the examination year 2023 were released finally and Aditya Srivastava of Lucknow topped the list with Rank 1.
He ranked 236th in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2022 and was currently posted in Hyderabad for the training of Indian Police Services (IPS) which he had opted for.
Aditya Srivastava revealed himself as to what did he do differently that made him stand apart from the other toppers.
He worked on identifying the mistakes and calculating the possibilities of mistakes he could possibly make. He particularly did this in GS 1 and GS 4 to identify where other toppers were doing better than him.
He agrees that hard work cannot be substituted by anything else but smart work is one thing that does wonders.
He did an in-depth analysis of the Previous Year's Questions of both Prelims and Maine and identified the trends, patterns and most repeated themes in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
He identified the various tricks involved in sentence formation, the types of questions UPSC was framing and the model answers that toppers gave.
He recommends to the aspirants to be self-motivated and consistent as the key to qualifying for this exam.
Aditya Srivastava shares that he was nervous before the declaration of the result and was praying to God to just land me in the top 70 ranking itself. But the result was ecstatic and unexpected and brought him immense happiness and it took a lot of minutes to process it all and let the feeling sink in.
He shares that he wants to be an IAS and has the hopes of implementing all the government schemes sooner he assumes office and responsibility.
He mentions that if he gets a chance to policy making, he is keen to work for the welfare of the educational and health sector, especially for children.
From the corporate corridors of Goldman Sachs, a high-paying job and his transition to elite public services has been remarkable.
Srivastava qualified for this exam with Electrical Engineering as his optional subject. He has done his graduation (B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur.
He began preparing for UPSC but failed in his first attempt at Prelims due to inadequate preparation. Later, he decided to quit his job to fully focus on UPSC preparation.
Mr Srivastava's father is an Audit officer (AO) in the Central Audit Department and his mother is a homemaker.
The UPSC topper pursued his school education from the Mawaiya area and later joined City Montessori School, Aliganj.
In this exam of hard mettle, ability and determination, Aditya's performance continues to inspire many aspirants out there.
