Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched from Jharkhand's Khunti district, the Centre's new scheme of Rs 24,000 crore for the holistic development of nearly 28 lakh people from particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) countrywide. He also released Rs 18,000 crores as part of the 15th Installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN). Under this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.
Launching the mission from Birsa College ground in Jharkhand's Khunti district on the occasion of tribal icon Birsa Munda's birth anniversary and the third 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas' which also coincides with the establishment of Jharkhand. Simultaneously, laying the foundation of development projects worth Rs 7200 crores for Jharkhand.
The government is now broadening toward the goals of social justice. Now, the budget for the Department of tribal affairs has increased manifold. PM PVTG's mission aims to reach even the last standing man amongst the primitive of tribes.
Basic facilities such as road, telecom connectivity, electricity, safe housing, clean drinking water, and sanitation will be provided to PVTG habitats which are mostly remote and inaccessible.
On the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the PM also launched Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra to create awareness about government schemes. It is to be ensured that all beneficiaries get their respective dues meanwhile.
Earlier in the day, the PM visited tribal icon Birsa Munda's birthplace Ulihatu in Jharkhand's Khunti district and paid floral tributes to him on his birth anniversary which is now also the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas since 2021. Modi, the first PM to visit Ulihatu was accorded with hospitality.
Birsa Munda, a revolutionary figure who is still alive as a hero in the tribals of Jharkhand and consequently giving them development prospects is no better than a cherry on the cake.
