The harminous atmosphere was well enveloped when Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) MLA Najeeb Kanthapuram inaugurated the renovated Ayyappa temple at Manalaya near Perinthalmanna in Malappuram on Tuesday.

Kanthapuram said in a Facebook post that though he had several opportunities as an MLA to conduct various inaugurations but he would cherish the inauguration of the renovated temple as it was a precious moment in his life.

The temple committee has given a beautiful message of secularism and brotherhood to the state. The other two names that temple authorities mentioned during the inauguration, that of Panchayat member Majeed Master and Abdul Azees, were for their work. They oversaw the temple renovation works at every stage.

Trustees of the centuries-old temple mentioned that people of the village cutting across religious divides have been helping each other and living in complete harmony. The invitation was given to the League Members as they cooperated in the entire process.

Melsanthi Edathara Moothedath Mana Narayan Namboodiri led the pujas of reopening the temple, beginning with the 'Havana' at 5 pm followed by 'Usha Puja' and another special puja before the temple was dedicated to the land by the MLA at 9:30 am. The MLA has also donated land for the expansion, reconstruction, and restoration of the temple.

This can be seen as a recognition of love and respect of feelings towards each other and the sense of responsibility attached. Furthermore, it is largely because of the secular citizens that the change has been manifested.
