Retirement from a position doesn't set you off from larger responsibilities. We get to see this thing when a former hockey umpire is delivering 'sehri' and 'iftar' items to the fasting Muslims in the State from the hospitals to the station premises.
The month of 'Ramzan' is highly cherished by Muslims as they see it as the month of self-restraint and self-purification. One has to start the fast by eating 'sehri' before the sun rises in the morning. They break the fast by breaking the fast after fasting in the evening after the Azaan.
Former hockey umpire Noman Akram is delivering sehri and iftar food items to the people of the Muslim community in this holy month of Ramadan. Akramer Raipur-based voluntary organisation is doing this work selflessly.
This delivery of food is being done purely for humanitarian reasons. Akram is rushing to hospitals, buses, and stations along with his group of youths. In the AIIMS of Raipur at BR Ambedkar Hospital, they are taking food in small bags and delivering it to the fasting people. They are also distributing food to the relatives of patients who had to come to see their loved ones on the bus, train or hospital, etc. It has also been seen that these hospital canteens also don't have much food.
Akram added that everybody accepted his efforts with all the more enthusiasm. These small supports or steps can help in boosting morale further.
Akram added that it is really difficult to find food after midnight during Sehri. It becomes a really tough job for fasting among the family members of the patient who visits the hospital. So, the food is prepared and delivered around the same time.
Sehri menu usually consists of roti, egg curry, bhujri, biryani, and fruit. Similarly, iftar items included dates, fruits, samosas, baked items, or juices.
There actually comes the spirit of this month. It is the month of sharing compassion and sharing the needy people. So, it's considered to be nice to be around fasting people this time. The former umpires encourages everyone to join in this noble cause through his social media account.
