For the first time, eight transgenders marched in the Republic Day Parade as part of the Bastar Fighters contingent on Jagdalpur. The Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel unfurled the Tricolour flag and received a guard of honour from various contingents of security personnel at a function to be held in the Lalbagh Maidan in Jagdalpur, the headquarters of Bastar district which is located around 300km from state capital, Raipur. It's going to be for the first time that cops from the third gender will participate in a parade of a national-level celebration. The induction of tribals and transgenders in the group will add a new dimension to policing in the region.

For many of them, it is like a dream coming true. They are eager to see themselves dressed in the uniform of cops. This initiative will lead to a substantial shift in the perception of people in regard to the people of third-gender.

The district collector added, 'Although, it's a small yet a significant opportunity provided to local youth as well as the segregated and neglected section of society. This will help in boosting their morale and make our society more inclusive and progressive.'

The Bastar Fighters is a special force raised by recruiting around 2,000 local youth which were mostly tribals. This is intended with the objective of ensuring active and effective participation of the native population in the process of development, security, and peace in the region.

The segregation afflicted on the tribals and transgender is more because of the faults in the structural pattern of the society. It is mainly due to the social disabilities. Retrospecting the errors incurred and introspecting the current will lead to a dynamic change in the society.
