Prime Minister, Narendra Modi while addressing an event in the national capital said that the country is going to have the world's largest museum 'Yuge Yugeen Bharat'.

During his address at the convention hall at Pragati Maidan on Wednesday, mentioned about the museum.

The proposed museum announced by the Prime Minister would be the world's largest museum encapsulating India's rich and diverse history.

The name Yug Yugeen Bharat is derived from Sanskrit which means 'everlasting India' which hints at the timeless journey and the heritage of India.

As per government sources, the museum will cover a massive area of almost 1.17 lakh square meters housing approximately 950 rooms spread across a basement, ground floor, and two additional floors.

The museum will be located within the North and South Blocks in line with Rashtrapati Bhawan. The transformation shall speak of the grandeur of India's cultural legacy on a massive scale.

These iconic blocks designed by Edward Lutyens and Herbert Baker in the 1930s have long been the nerve centre of India's governance and houses key government offices.

The museum aims to enfold in itself 5,000 years of Indian history. It will highlight the various epochs, vibrant cultures, and the pride of the cultural heritage. It shall romanticize the abstract devotion towards a nation.

The museum will also homage to ancient Indian empires like the Mauryans, Guptas, Sangam Age, and Kushanas and crossing Medieval India, and lastly the struggles of the British occupation.

The museum shall enlighten us after lighting on the chronicles of Indian history. It shall help in adding to the richness of our knowledge regarding our glorious past and the aspiring present.
